Today on the ESPN hotlist, Tim leger said that he spoke with Sprewell and Three team have called him and he named Miami, Memphis and Cleveland. Leger said Miami would not fit Spreewell because of there being two many weapons and that would lay on latrells mind, leger said Memphis would be the ideal fit for latrell but is memphis never wants to spend any money and wants to nab a big FA next season and would not fit into Mike F sceame.

"Cleveland would love to have Spree, he could bring everything to the table that say a larry hughes cannot. He could complament Lebron we he is unable to carry the team any futher in a game, after talking with spree I see him in Memphis and if not there possiably Cleveland, I see this happening at the end of the week."

I really dont know how i feel about that guys, I mean will he be willing to come off the bench?

Not totally against this, although he is hardly that "character" guy Ferry preaches. We already have 15 players and 3 backup swingmen behind LeBron and Hughes so the neccessity is low. I guess it comes down to whether management think we will contend or not this season.

Sprewell is not that great of a shooter. Nor would we be what we want. Nor anything close. Silly thoughts here. And no roster space for him either.

Roster space isn't an issue with Wilks likely being waived at a minimal cost if this was to eventuate. This is likely just another silly rumour, but at least a discussion on a quiet day.

If Spreewell was brought along, I would assume that either Luke or Sasha would be getting dealt.

I wouldn't be against brining in Spreewell. I am sure he just wants somewhere to play that has a chance to go somewhere, and Cleveland is the place. His all around game would make Cleveland's bench one of the best in the East.

Yuck :puke: :eek:mg:  :uhh: :shakehead :scared: :shifty:

Although, he would bring some solid offense off the bench...

I'm confused, go ahead and do it...But don't do it... Too much to process

if he were to come he would be more production now than luke or sasha would bring.

the thing with his character, i kinda think that if he were to come here he would abide by the rules. his role wouldnt be that big, and if he wanted to mouth off we could just release him.

all in all, i dont see why ferry would have contacted spree's agent.

i saw this a day or so ago on the cavs message board. Dont know if i beleive it because i havnt seen it reported anywhere else, and there wasnt a link. NBA nation comes on in probably 5 minutes after this college football game on espn 2. Ill watch it and report if there is anything to report. And as i type this, the college game has gone into overtime :heated:, i guess we have to wait longer.

Not sure how i would feel about spree. It would give us another scorer i guess. Maybe larry could play the point and we start all three? It doesnt matter since we have both lebron and larry who can bring up the ball. But if we do need snow in the starting lineup, i dont know how spree would feel about coming off the bench. I think everyone has mixed feelings about signing him.

<insert latrell feeding his children joke here>

I don't think Sprewell is needed at this point. There's really only maybe 25 minutes available at best each game behind LeBron and Hughes. I think those minutes can be handled fine between Luke, Sasha and Newble. Having role players and developing the younger talent is more important than a 1 year fill in like Sprewell who needs the ball more to be effective. I don't think Sprewell would be that happy with limited minutes. I also don't see him that happy about having to accept the veteran minimum after the money he was making and the money he foolishly turned down last year.

The risk of distraction and possible disruptions isn't worth it either. After McInnis last year and other players in recent seasons, the Cavs are better off without these types of players for where they are in thier development.
If the Cavs had a veteran team that had been together a while and was a player away from championship contender I might feel different about bringing in Sprewell.

Spree would be an improvement over wilks and snow for that matter, and would give us another look. And yeah I do think you would play all three guys at once. Sprewell, even with his baggage is a fireball guy, and has been in the playoffs and is not intimidated by anyone. With Sprewell you could play him with Jones, with Lebron or with Larry and he would be effective.. The question is that if we sign spree, does that mean Snow is gone to NYC?

No cuz Spree is a SF not a PG. It would give us some more depth if we don't want to play the inexperienced guys like Luke or Sasha during a crucial stretch. Spree is an EXCELLENT jump shooter. His mid range game gave him the 70-80 mill contracts. I could see us cutting Zendon since he gets only garbage mins. We have Drew Marshall Henderson and AV coming back...plus Marty. If we sign Spree then that puts an end to either Sasha or Luke. Luke may have more value and we may want Sasha due to his better experience. I'd like to get him, he would garner more attention then Luke or Sasha, he is a veteran has been to the finals.

Nice veteran trio off the bench...

PG Jones
SG Larry or Spree (when the game is close barring injury lebron and larry will never be off the floor at the same time.)
SF Spree or James
PF Marshall
C Gooden Z (barring foul trouble/injury gooden or z will play center over hamilton.

I'm for it...do it up Ferry!

Im not sure on this one. On the court and talent-wise, any team could use this guy. But he's a potential off the court nightmare. Would he accept playing behind Lebron and Larry? Or would Larry start at the point giving us a starting Larry, Lebron, and Latrell? We don't have any space left, so worse case we could sign the guy and then just cut him if he doesn't work out.

There is a reason he hasn't been picked up yet by anyone though...

Not gonna happen. I can tell you right now. Spree doesn't do nearly enough on the court to make up for the potential damage he can cause off the court. He is still a bad apple.

Last year he said "Suck my d*ck, b*tch" to a woman who asked him not cuss because there were children around. That is embarassing. I was embarassed when Silas said the "see you next tuesday" thing. Signing him would just force me to cheer on a guy I don't even like.

oh...and this too: http://thesideliner.com/sprewellstarves.htm

If Newble was still starting, then I would consider it. But he is not.

This is like the Terrell Ownes thing that is sweeping the nation.

BTW- I want Spree here.

One year vet minimum contract's are not costly. If he acts the fool then you cut him. Problem is he already turned down a one year vet contract, he is looking for multiple years and the Cavs would be foolish to give him that.
