Summer League: 7/14 Cavs vs. Wizards 6:30PM EST *Live Video*

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
its only preseason, but we have 4 players playing that we will probably have on our roster this year, so thats kinda sad 2 know we lose 3 games with 4-potential players playing for us

I like how Kinsey pads his stats in the last 10 seconds to make it look like he had a good game.

Damn, I missed the game. Hoping there are plenty of Eyenga highlights on SC tonight.

BTW, I'll volunteer to play PG and pass to no one but Eyenga, Green, and perhaps DJ and Jawad if they're wide open for a dunk. Also, the only time I'll shoot is if I'm wide open with the shot clock winding down. ;)

You know, if one of our PG's on the roster did that, instead of chucking up bad threes and driving to the hoop and getting blocked, then he'd have serious consideration to make the roster.

Eyenga is awesome though... loved his energy and enthusiasm. Throw him into the fire! Put him on the roster! Free Kid Congo!

I haven't seen Eyenga play, but I am wondering, are people looking at this kid's every move and saying, "Kid Congo, great inbounds pass," just because he is 20 years old and has raw potential, or is he actually playing well for someone who just came over here last month?

No, he had a pretty good game tonight. Looks WAAAAY more comfortable then before, has shown good form and flashes of his athleticism. That's not to say he looks like a future superstar type player but he is showing good signs. If only we had a pg to actually pass him the damn ball more often.

It's obvious to see what they were protecting in Eyenga. He's got "it". And honestly, thev kid is just the equal to a high school sophomore in game experience. This kid is as raw as you'll ever see a kid his age, at this level.

I didn't think he would compete well at this level, seriously. He's surprising me that he's adapting so quickly. But, what blew me and others away was when we saw in just the few clips we were able to view of this kid was how he could effectively use either hand well.

In a couple years I think we may have our Pippen with this kid, but, I don't wanna put that pressure on him yet.

What did Eyenga do tonight?

Eyenga is really showing nice promise. I cant wait to see him after a year of NBADL or NBA expierence.

Wow, that is impressive to say the least. He has looked good. His hustle, and levelheadedness really shows out there among all the nutty playing. It's amazing the progress he's made in just a few days. I wonder how his english is coming, something tells me he will be doing pretty good coming up on 100 days :D

W&G, do you know if the Cavs have formulated their plan of development with Christian yet? I know you brought up that they wanted to get a plan in place for him ASAP, just curious as to whether they have decided what they wanted to do. Whether it's in the D-League or Europe.

After watching game 1, it looked like Europe.
After watching game 2, it looked like D-League.
After watching game 3, it still looked like D-League.

But he was definately more poised and was giving more effort then anyone else on our roster. The most impresive for me is his lack of mistakes and fouls, the score card might say 3 fouls, but 2 of those were with less then 30 seconds in the game. He didnt force anything on offense or defense, no turnovers. He still isnt good at finding the right spot on the offensive end, but despite him being so 'raw', tonight at least he looked like the most NBA ready player on our roster.

I think some of that has to do with Green and DJ being asked to do a few things that are oustide of thier game. TK didnt look as bad as the 1st 2 games, still made the same bonehead plays, just this time the ball ended up fallin in the cup.

Jawad and Lyons looked solid too, sort of. Those point guards they brought along are really not helping anyone out. If I woulda known I woulda flown out to Vegas to run the point a bit.

More and more do I want him in Erie.. I wish I could find some highlights, because I missed the second half. Kid Congo is turning into that wonder Spur find. Pick is great, and I love the kid's talent. Though, I want a dunk... I didn't think I saw one but I may be wrong.. DUNK THE BALL CONGO!

It means nothing. The players that might make the team(Jackson, Green, Kinsey, Williams) are literally players 11-15 on our 15 man roster. As so many other have noted, we have poor non NBA point guards on our summer league team creating a lack of offensive flow.

This summer league is strictly for:

Darnell to get more aggressive, try to expand his offensive game, and his on court stamina

Danny Green to get acclimated to our defensive approach, playing against fully grown men, and the longer NBA three point line

Christian Eyenga to acclimate to American culture and language, specifically basketball language and see how he does against players with far more playing experience(but far less physical tools) than him

Everything and everyone else on our summer league team is meaningless. Tarence and Jawad are learning no new things and benefitting in no way they wouldn't in just basic Cavs training camp or even offseason workouts with the rest of the guys in the gym.

And, lastly, one more time, the record is 100% superfluous and meaningless
