Summer League Game 3: Phoenix vs. Cleveland, Tuesday, July 17 2012, 8:30pm EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
nice split and spin by Dion and he finished.

That wide open 3 was ugly though. What the hell is wrong with his shot? I hope it just needs a small fix/he's in a slump.

It's too bad so many RCF posters already declared Waiters a bust. He's shown some very nice moves and vision tonight, but alas, it's too late for him...

Samuels seems to be drawing fouls instead of charges this year.

Waiters definitely has some skills you just can't teach. Also, seems to have pretty good court vision and bust ass down the floor. I think part of the shot problem comes with being exhausted, this is probably the most competitive basketball he's really played in a row, especially without doing much the last couple months. I'd like to think he sees he can get to the hole when he wants to, and hopefully sees that being in the best shape, on the floor, will make him a monster to deal with.

Him and Kyrie will be driving and kicking all day, and people will have to follow them because they get to the hole so well. I guess that means we'd really benefit from a strong shooting SF. However, I think Dion's shot will fall, it just looks tired to me, seems to be undershooting a lot, not so much flat, but just short....though from the shitty feed I was watching it's hard to tell.

I'm pretty pumped about the guy, the ball is in his court. Hopefully he runs with it.

I like the way Waiters attacks the basket, yes he needs to work on his jumper but i like him and he's gonna be a great piece to the franchise for years to come

Also I'm impressed with Zeller, i think Grant and Scott made the right calls with both picks

yep, it is pretty much a necessity at this point.

I agree totally. The first thing to go when you are exhausted is your shot, and his shot got flatter and flatter as these 3 days wore on (in fact he made his first long jumper). When tired, players are still able to get to the hoop with a burst of adrenaline, but setting up for an accurate long range shot is a different story without good legs under you. Not to compare ourselves to NBA players, but if anyone here is a good shooter, they know that's how a good shooter's shots look when they are exhausted....short, long, rimming out...he wasn't left or right. that last miss that hit the front of the rim dead on just spoke of tiredness.

Coaches have him working on his mechanics. its obvious when ou watch him compared to the tapes of him at syracuse. also his post game interviews Waiters himself makes it quite apparent he is focused on his mechanics. I dont think theres any need to make excuses for him such as exhaustion. There is nothing wrong with him having to deal with a bit of adversity on the court coming out the gate.
