The Cavaliers will play in a summer league next week in Las Vegas. With no current draft pick, it basically will be a test ground for how well Luke Jackson has recovered from back surgery in January. He is working out daily at the University of Oregon.

This gets me excited. The Cavalier's are back playing. I wonder whether Varejao will play or he may be still with the Brazilian national team.

yes, Varejao is working out with Brazil. I like that though, varejao plays basketball all year round, and doesn't just take the summer off.

Luke Jackson should impress, if he doesn't I'll be worried. He should be ahead of all other summer leaguers.

I always look forward to the summer league's. Some of the old names come out trying to back into the big show. Will be interesting as ever to see who are the camp invitees.

Summer league just won't be the same without Diop shooting 30% and getting called for tons of fouls while playing against many players who will never play in the NBA.

Hopefully the Cavs can get some promising young talent to play on their summer league teams. There's always some talent that's been playing in the CBA or NBDL that's more developed than undrafted players and closer to contributing to an NBA team.
Who knows? Maybe Cavs 1st round pick Jarrett Jack or Roko Ukic will play if we get lucky and pull off a deal.

Im excited to see how Luke does in the summer league. Does anyone know if the games will be televised? I think they were last year on NBATV.

Summer league, ah, the memories. I remember when Diop kicked a ball and was tossed from the game. LOL

If I have time, I'll try to catch a game in person. I'd like to see Luke Jackson in person because when I see players in person, that's worth watching 10 games on television.

I love the fact the Finals have just finished, and we are about to head into phase 1 of the new season. This is the time we get high on some unknown only for him to disappear as quickly as he arrived.

Come on luke may the force be with you after backing into the dark side last season

No doubt. I remember how last summer many thought Lonnie Jones was the answer at PF for years to come. Whatever happened to him?

when we really sucked, i always looked at the draft as like the last part of the previous nba season until early november.. but now that we are on the brink (FINGERS CROSSED) of a playoff team- that hopefully can start to really contend in the east ? i now looked at the draft as the beginning of the new season...
especially this year, with us having so much cap space- and the chance to land a high profile player or two-- this should be a really fun off season..

we should see cavs info everywhere for the next couple of months.

Milwaukee offered him a guanrenteed contract and he accepted it.

Then they waived him shortly thereafter.

He made a little money out of the deal.

As reported by Ben
The Cavs have invited Matt Freije to play on the summer league team.
Year Team G Min M A Pct M A Pct M A Pct Off Def Tot Ast TO Stl Blk PF PPG

Didn't play much, but from that statline, why would ya play him?

Lets see if he has progressed.

Add John Gilchrist and Kelenna Azubuike to the summer league roster. Both have agreed to take part in the summer leagues.

I'm really intrigued with both prospects, good job Ferry.

So now we have Luke, Marty, Gilchrist, Azubuike, and Freije on the roster. Its looking pretty good so far. I would try to pick up another one of the pgs and maybe schensher or morris.
