Summer League - Vegas Style

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
7'3'' (C) Martynas Andriuskevicius
6'10'' (PF) Matt Freije
6'7'' (SF) Luke Jackson
6'5'' (SG) Kelenna Azubuike
6'2'' (PG) John Gilchrist

Granted you would never win a NBA game with this starting lineup, but I think its a start at least for the summer league... Lukes going to be the leader; hopefully all his hard work will pay off.

who the hell is that SG  ? "BOOKIE"

He is from Kentucky. Real talented kid, came out way too early, but he does have a ton of potential, but we are log jammed so I doubt he makes it on the roster.

I would still like to see us sign Chris Thomas and Jawad Williams. I think Jawad can be really good.

Hopefully we can add a few of these youngsters to the 15 man roster. Some have excellent potential.

Chris Thomas has signed with Indiana. Jawad Williams has signed with Golden State.

Truthfully, Azubuike reminds me a lot of Kedrick Brown. Great athlete, but lacking in overall basketball skills. Plus, we are loaded with guys at the 2/3 spot (Jackson, Sasha, Newble, James, FA signings). I think he's a pretty decent prospect, but he likely won't make the team.

I think Gilchrist is going to make the team provided he doesn't absolutely bomb in the summer leagues.

It will be interesting to see how Martynas performs. If he does well, I guess the next question would be "now what?"

The Azubuike/Kedrick Brown comaprison is pretty accurate CBBI. Azubuiuke is a great athlete but needs work on his basketball skills. Some basic talent is there and he's a pretty good defender so he's a good player to take a look at in summer league.

Ferry and the Cavs were going hard after some players so more names should come out. They already did a great job in bringing in Gilchrist.

I hadn't see anything about Basden but if they get him that would be a nice pickup too. If he develops he could be the Cavs version of Bruce Bowen or Devin Brown on the Spurs. Basden is a great defensive player. I think he can definitely play in the NBA.

Does anyone know the days and times of the summer league? so I can check them out?

Las Vegas, Nev. - NBA TV will air 20 games during the Reebok Vegas Summer League July 6-15, network officials announced today.

The all-hoops network will be on-hand to televise four games per day between Monday, July 11th and Friday, July 15th. All games will air on a tape-delay basis.

I am really excited about this summer league even with no 1st round pick

Is John Gilchrist another Arenas in the making or just a bad headcase?

Is Martynas as good as the lottery buzz or as bad as he looked in his predraft workout?

Is Luke going to be as good as I think he is or is he just a bust?

I didnt know we had this Tarver guy. He went to Akron. Anyone ever watch him?

Derrick Tarver is a friend of Lebrons.

He wont make the roster, he is a 6'3'' SF who got way too big for his own good. This guy is huge, he did put up good numbers at Akron U.

His twin brother was a much better player, he also went to my school, but he was avg 23 PPG for George Mason before he broke his ankle. Then in the summer he was in an open run giving Chris Duhon the business and had a stroke, he now has a pace maker in his heart and isnt allowed to play ball anymore.

He was ranked #33 in the class of 03 by NBADraft.net at the begining of his junior year, after being JUCO All American.
