Super Bowl LVI - Ohio vs Odell

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
what do you do if you’re Chicago ownership? Fire Nagy now? I don’t know the earliest a HC has been fired in the regular season. Do you meddle and demand his play calling duties be revoked for Lazor?

I think one thing is for sure (for me personally) at this point: Fields doesn’t touch the field the rest of the year. I get there need to be uncomfortable situations from which young quarterbacks need to learn; but this wasn’t a learning experience; this was the type if affair that is damaging. Am I overreacting? I truly felt bad for the kid. That was borderline abusive to do that to him without any designed throws or runs to get him confident or protected.

I thought it was stupid for them to not move on from Nagy and Pace this offseason. Pace did well in the draft, but Nagy is atrocious.

Nagu made the playoffs two out of three years, has a winning record, and did it all with Turdbansky under center.

Browns fans haven't gotten anyone fired in over a calendar year, so we move on to other franchises.

The entire football world is trying to get Nagy fired :chuckle:

I mean, the entire football world pretty much agreed that Nagy and Pace were coaching/GM'ing for their jobs and if it didn't work out this year, they were both gone.

It's why, on draft day, I was surprised with how little the Giants got from the Bears for Fields. I thought they could've basically set their price--if Pace didn't get a QB, it didn't matter how many future picks the franchise had.

I would've just put them out of their misery this past offseason, instead of having them in a panicky situation where I don't trust their long-term judgment.

Nagy has no business keeping that job any longer.

They should grab Daboll in the offseason. He has grown by leaps and bounds since his tenure here.

That job looks a bit rough; they are going to end up a top-5 team with no first round draft to show for it; that’s just brutal. The roster itself will also decline naturally. I know this is important for any franchise, but they really need some advanced cap expertise because they seem to have a decent amount of dead money allocated and their backup QB situation needs to get resolved financially which looks like an easy fix. M

Joe Brady will be a hot name if Carolina and Darnold continue this trend.

Chicago losing Teven Jenkins then Borom hurts them so much. They tried to patch it up by bringing in Jason Peters, but that monolith is finally washed.

Getting Teven back next year is basically like having a first round pick, so that's something in the optimism column. Losing another year of Khalil Mack, Eddie Jackson, Eddie Goldman, Roquan Smith and Akiem Hicks is going to hurt. That defense isn't getting younger and the aged vets are going to need to be replaced eventually. That's a ton of talent in Chicago that's been wasted by inept offense.

I don't think they should fire Nagy. Who's going to come in and make the playoffs for them and win games like Nagy has?

Giants might have 2 top 5 picks next year.

If I had any confidence in Daniel Jones, they could really make a quick turnaround.

His handling of Fields was baffling, though. Wtf he didn't go max protect once he saw his LT was getting completely cooked is a mystery.

I see this as hindsight is never wrong, and it's more easily said than done.

Nagy put plays in he thought would work, and they practiced them with a rookie QB all week. How is he going to succeed if the plays are switched to a section of the playbook he didn't practice week?

His seat is warmer now than it was all week, but I can't believe anyone is surprised a rookie QB in his first start looked overmatched on the road.

I actually see what Shanahan is doing with Lance and wonder if a "two quarterback" gameplan is a better move going forward in Chicago. Fields has shown that he limits the playbook.

I think Nagy has been one of the worst offensive coaches in the league over the past two years and on pace to deliver a third year of terrible performance.

Outside of year one, the team has been 8-8 each year with one of the best defenses in football and one of the worst offenses.

You can blame it all on Mitch, but there have been problems with Nagy as well. The playcalling has been awful. The way he misused Tarik Cohen, their best weapon from 2018 where they went 12-4, is awful. The whole Mitch/Foles thing was terrible. I don't see a bright spot in that organization besides the #1 defense in the league that he inherited in 2018 that has gotten worse every year.

I think the only feather in Nagy's cap is that he used to work under Andy Reid. Outside of that, what has he done?

Nagy probably isn't the dude to be coaching but...I don't think Justin Fields is going to be a long-term starter at QB in the NFL either. So..he's kinda been dealt that hand. He isn't doing the most he can with him, but he also probably knows he's not all that good.
