The first day of training camp brought some encouraging news on Braylon Edwards.
The Browns seem confident that Edwards' return is much more a matter of when than if.
But exactly when Edwards will be cleared to participate in practice sessions - and how long thereafter that he'll be ready to play in games - remains to be seen.

The third overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, Edwards emerged as a playmaker last season but saw his season end four games early when he tore his ACL against Jacksonville in December.
He had surgery in January and been has rehabbing rigorously since, leading the team's decision makers to believe he'll return to action in time to contribute this season.
"We have a secure, solid plan in place for his rehab and return to the team," general manager Phil Savage said. "We're anticipating he is going to be back with us, as we've said all along.
"Is it October 1st? Is it September 1st? Who knows? It depends on how he responds to the things he is going to be able to do."
