Team USA - 24 Olympics

So here's the players that have committed to Team USA for the 2024 Olympics:
Lebron James
Joel Embiid
Stephen Curry
Kevin Durant
Devin Booker
Jayson Tatum
Damian Lillard
Kawhi Leonard

Does anybody else think that team would be just a tad too old? Time for some young blood or Team USA will get run out of the gym.

I'd guess maybe half these guys won't be healthy enough to play next summer. LeBron wouldn't have been able to play if the Olympics were this summer. Neither would Kawhi. Dame allegedly had an ankle injury that kept him out of the end of the year. Durant and Booker have obviously had a lot of injuries over the course of the last couple years.

It's probably a safer bet that 4/8 guys play. Seems like the only safe bets might be Steph and Tatum.

I've gpt no problem with a few of these guys. But i don't think many of them could play significant minutes.
Guys like Anthony Edwards, SGA, Haliburton, Fox, even DG and Spida could more than hang with those guys.

Mobley looks to have a clearer path to that roster than Garland. Garland isn't bringing much to the table that Dame and Curry don't already provide.

Mobley, on the other hand, would bring a defensive presence that is currently lacking.

He'd be the Tyson Chandler from the 2008 Super Olympic Team, which I will never not say is the best Olympics Team ever assembled.

Ignoring my last post, if we do assume health for all these guys and assume that Team USA wants them all and all these guys want to play:

Bam and Davis would be no brainers to add to this roster.

The last two spots are a little harder to determine. Jrue is actually a great fit on if he wants to play as they could use a primary defender in the backcourt. Mitchell, Edwards, Fox, and Halliburton would all be good options, but they need defense more than scoring or playmaking. Tatum is also able to play some at SG if needed.

I think the last spot probably goes to a versatile big. In my mind that’s either Draymond or Mobley. Basically guys that can switch out on the perimeter and defend at a high level. Plus you’d want a big that would fit with any other front court player.

All that being said, I’ll throw this out there based on these commitments:

PG: Curry, Dame
SG: Booker, Jrue
SF: Durant, Tatum, Kawhi
PF: LeBron, Davis, Mobley
C: Embiid, Bam

Really I’d probably leave Kawhi off in favor of Mitchell or Edwards, but Kawhi brings a lot of value if he can actually play.

As is, this roster is miles better than the last 2 Olympic rosters. Guys like Jerami Grant or Harrison Barnes were embarrassing, even for team-oriented Olympic play.

Embiid & Kawhi on the roster is shameful. One is on his last leg and the other isn't American. I don't care what the excuse is. Man up, represent your country and build the game.

8 bodies here (assuming they all play). Despite being washed, I think Steph brings Klay and Bron brings AD, both have hinted as such. That's 10.

Add in Edwards & maybe Haliburton as the next wave of Team USA (Huge mistake) and that's how you get your 12.

That roster will win but long term, you are absolutely fucking up Team USA experience. Mitchell, Garland & Mobley are all ideal for international basketball yet here we are bringing out the Weekend at Bernies (Kawhi). Two PGs, with little to no Intl Experience and haven't expressed more than wanted to pad their resume.

We will win 2024, but after that is going to be a major problem.
