The Milwaukee Bucks, having already scored the No. 1 pick in next week's draft, decided Wednesday to thrust themselves into the NBA coaching sweepstakes by firing Terry Porter.

The Bucks, according to NBA front-office sources, made the unexpected move in hopes of attracting Flip Saunders or Nate McMillan -- or a similarly experienced coach -- to Milwaukee.

On with the juicy gossip. What does this mean to the Cavs? Porter is fired, big deal. But if they land that top-tier coach (all of them are left except PJax), then that would give even more reason for Redd to stay in Milwaukee. I'd really feel screwed if McMillan went to the Bucks and Redd re-signed, plus them getting Bogut. It seems like a great situation for McMillan to pounce on if Seattle doesn't give him something soon.

Young post presence in Bogut.
Young version of Ray Allen.
TJ Ford might come back: great young PG.
Mason is a decent wingman.

Damn.

How was Redd's relationship with Terry Porter?

I don't see the Bucks landing a top tier coach at all. If the Cavs couldn't do it with LeBron, the Bucks aren't going to do it with Bogut.

I don't think we couldn't do it with LeBron. We never really offered anyone the coaching job outside of Mike Brown. We entertained quite a few candidates, including Flip. Just because he's not here right now doesn't mean that he couldn't have been. Gilbert just didn't want him, plain and simple. We didn't even get a chance to talk to McMillan.

I think Redd kinda liked Porter, but he'll most likely be happier with a better, proven coach.

Two things here:

1. Chances of landing Redd are increased if he was a fan of Porter's, which is doubtful because management surely came to Redd about this. If not, then Redd may want out of MKE.

2. If Nate leaves Seattle for MKE, then Ray Allen may be unhappy and decide to sign elsewhere, along with Antonio Daniels, Jerome James, Vlad Ram, etc. Nate is a players coach - could rub some guys the wrong way. This makes the path to Cleveland clearer.

If Cleveland had gotten Nate, I would have felt confident in signing some of those guys. Nate staying in Seattle may be all they need. If he leaves for Milwaukee, chances increase, for players to sign elsewhere, IMO.

Nate will resign in Seattle in my opinion. Milwaukee may struggle to get a topline coach, but there are still many candidates out there like Spree's coach PJ, Silas, etc. The longer Milwaukee sit on their hands with their decision, the better it is for us. That is if we get off our hands and get a front office in place.

Did Redd not like Porter? I'm hoping he did :)

It sounds like Milwaukee will go after Flip but I can't believe he would go there. He'd be better off waiting to see what happens in Detroit or just sitting out next season until a better job opens up. He'll still get paid by Minn.

I also don't see McMillan with the Bucks. He'll most likely stay with Seattle with Portland or Detroit being the next possibilities.
