Texans' Record Watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What happens to the pick when the Texans win next week? Clowney + Hopkins gonna carry them to the W.

Good chance all three can happen.

Not totally sure how anyone could watch the Texans the last five weeks and say there’s a good chance they’re going to win a road game.

Not to mention the one of the Colts three wins this year already came against these very same Texans who were even less beat up at the time.

The Bucs will probably lose to the Saints since New Orleans still has something to play for, but the Chiefs have already locked up their 4th seed and can’t go any higher or lower. They might rest their regulars against Denver next week.

I think the pick will end up at 4.

Bucs are home vs. the Saints. Saints currently have the 4 seed and need a win or a Panthers loss to clinch the division. So unfortunately they have something to play for

Broncos are home vs. the Chiefs. Chiefs have the division locked up and currently have the 4 seed. Don't believe they can jump Jacksonville even with a W and Jags L.

You sure?
Basing it on @Urban’s post that it is impossible for the Texans to finish with a weaker schedule than the Colts

So the Colts would thus win the tiebreaker and the Giants and Browns are already locked into picking ahead of the Texans

So if Houston loses to the Colts, and the Bucs somehow win.. Pick doesn't move to 3?

Damn. I'll still take 4 though.

No.

Draft order tiebreaker is strength of schedule. The weaker schedule you play, the better pick you get. The Colts SOS is going to be worse than the Texans no matter what happens in their game on Sunday.

It’s kinda goofy that the Colts may go 4-12 with two wins over the also 4-12 Texans, but Indianapolis would still have the better pick of the two teams because they’ve played a weaker schedule.

From a pure net worth perspective the browns will have won that trade, by a ton. In fact if you use the trade chart they will have won by the equivalent of the number 10-13th overall pick. You cant complain about that. Now we just need cousins/mayfield/rosen/other to be a frachise qb

If this team gets the #1 and #4, and we throw a truck load at Cousins, even if an overpay, we are going to be significantly better next year. I mean, the pieces are there. I’m talking playoff contention.

Cousins
#1 Fitzpatrick - FS
#4 Barkley - RB
#33 (or trade up to 24-28) Sutton - WR
#37-39 Oliver - CB
#58-63 Jamarco Jones - OT

That’s so many holes filled with immediate impact players, and we aren’t even out of the 2nd round.

Anyone smoking the Kirk Cousins “hopium” needs to get a clue.

That dude isn’t going to the Cleveland friggin Browns in the prime of his career when he can go to any number of “contender with a QB” teams like Denver, Jacksonville, Pittsburgh if Ben retires, or simply get tagged in Washington for the third year in a row.

And yes, the Browns COULD offer him 40M+ a season if they wanted to, but they won’t and neither would anyone else in the NFL. You can’t give 25-30% of your salary cap to one player when you have 52 other spots to fill. It’s just not realistic.

Why would the Browns give Cousins 5 years, 200M when they can give Darnold/Rosen/Mayfield 4 years, 30M with a 5th year option?

The easiest way to have sustained success in the NFL is to find a quality quarterback for under market value (aka on a rookie contract) and load up the rest of your roster before he’s up for a huge extension.

How do we know this though?

Who are the teams on the Colts schedule that didn't play the Texans, and vice versa?

So if the teams that haven't played the Colts but played the Texans lose, and the teams that the Colts played that the Texans haven't win next week, we could see that flip.

I'd assume no one looked into this scenario. @The Wizard of Moz

Well they’re in the same division. So they played 14 common opponents.

The AFC South obviously plays their own division and this year they played the AFC North/NFC West.

Outside of those common opponents, the Colts played the 8-7 Bills and the 5-10 Broncos. The Texans conversely played the 12-3 Patriots and the 9-6 Chiefs.
