The 2020 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Story of my first game:

I'll never forget, my father got suite tickets at the brand new Jacobs Field. I was, I believe, about 6 at the time and the whole family went. I don't remember much about the game, but I do remember the last thing to happen. It was an Albert Belle walk off home run.

I was so excited, I remember how loud it was in that stadium and how everyone reacted as soon as he hit it, he absolutely crushed it.

After we left, my parents took my brothers and I to go get autographs after the game while the players walked to their cars. I specifically remember wanting to get Albert Belle's because of the home run. One by one, as the players came out, I waited for my dad to point him out to me. I remember seeing Kenny Lofton, but he had a flock of girls around him.

Soon Belle came out and you would have thought a killer was after him the way he ran through the gated setup. I don't think I've ever see him run as fast ever since. I was crushed, asking my dad if he could get him back so he could sign whatever I had to sign. I was starting to get upset when another player was coming down the line.

Carlos Baerga.

Now I don't remember what he did in that game, but I'll never forget the next few moments and is one of the most impressionable moments of my young life. He saw how upset I was and he waved me up to the barrier. He signed my game ticket and offered my mom and dad to take a photo with him. Was probably the coolest thing I'd ever done in my entire life at that point, I was so excited. I kept that ticket for at least 10 years until we moved out of the house we were living in. I still regret not being able to find that ticket.

Carlos Baerga instantly became my favorite player. I wore 9 because of him, I played 2nd in T-Ball and little league, and let me tell you, I balled my fucking eyes out the day he was traded for Jeff Kent. Sure I'd move on a few seasons later and eventually I'd get more favorite players, but Carlos was my first ever "favorite" player in any sport and I'll never forget that moment.

My first game was at Municipal Stadium in its last year. We were in the upper deck. I dont recall the actual game, but the stadium was packed and I recall Slider dancing on the dugout. Nothing else sticks out about that game.
Mine's similar.

The only thing I remember is the troughs.

my first indians game was at Muni, but i was like 4 and the only thing i remember was fireworks after we had left the stadium.

First game i actually remember was in 95 at jacobs field, against the yankees. They got 4 or 5 innings into the game and the skies opened up. I sat in my seat for over an hour just sitting in the rain, hoping it would go away (it never did). There is a picture of that moment hanging in my parents house (i was the only person in the stadium still in a seat). Still have the hat (Which of of course was ruined).

I became a fan in the early 50s; I was 9 or 10. I couldn't understand what Luke Easter and Ray Boone did to deserve what I then thought were boos. Years went by before I figured it out. I was happy later on to see that seat in upper deck right field where big Luke planted one. The Sept. 12, 1954 DH sweep of the NYY and the subsequent issue of Sports Illustrated with a cover titled "Twilight of The Gods" are my favorite Tribe memories along with one more recent game-winning HR by a young Manny Ramirez off of Dennis Eckersley.

One time, I was 2 or 3 rows back from the on deck circle and I yelled I wanted to have sex with Casey Blake's beard while he was walking to the plate. He looked back at me and laughed, so there's that :conf (11):

Did you ever see one plugged up? Filled to the brim, yet still being used?

I remember having to soak my sneakers in Lysol when I got home. They were never the same. Nor was I.

I once saw a Steelers fan passed out in one. Dude was absolutely soaked as guys lined up to piss on him. Cops eventually came in after some other Steeler fan finally let them know what was going on.

I love that this thread has become a thread about memories, like remember when we had sports?

I will say taking my son to spring training here in Phoenix has been incredible memories, from talking to the Brewer's third base coach and joking with him, to my son turning down an autograph with Lucroy because he was wearing the wrong uniform and Lucroy cracked up, to when Encarnacion broke his pen trying to sign his ball.

Spring training is amazing, and baseball is father and son building memories for sure. My son doesnt like sports, but he loves going to the game.

Actually, all this stuff probably belongs in the Bleachers. I let it go because I've been tied up tonight, and it's not a big deal considering the circumstances. But I'll move it all over in the morning.

Nice story Cats..

On a different note - I can't understand why people are not talking up baseball (or other sports) at this time.
I get that teams are not playing games but why should that impact people discussing/ debating/ learning? Games are not played in December & January yet there is Hot Stove talk going on a regular basis.

Why can't people view this as an extension of the Hot Stove season & continue discussions??

The NFL signings (massive) and NBA infection news has overshadowed the MLB.

My 1st was at Municipal as well...probably the last year or so, too.

I just remember sitting out in Center field and seeing the giant net in front of us to catch HRs. I think Lofton hit a homer to center.

I don't think it was very crowded though.

That's about all I can remember.

I’m currently watching Game 3 of the 2016 World Series. I remember not being able to breathe while at the Clevelander downtown for it. I still don’t understand why we didn’t let Tomlin try and finish the 5th. Had a runner on second with 2 outs.

Coco coming in the clutch was fucking amazing. That was a hell of a game.

If you rewatch game 1, there's a part where they cut to a group of fans in the upper deck RF standing area, leaning over the railing and banging on the aluminum siding.

That was me, my wife, and six other friends I was able to bring to the game with me because the Indians were dumb and allowed season ticket holders to buy up to 8 tickets for each game.
