The Cavs vs Bulls Series

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Do players around the league like rose? I feel like his whole "I'm not recruiting anyone" attitude rubbed people the wrong way about him and the whole organization.

No they don't.

It's been talked about quite a bit in various media outlets over the years.

Most recently when Carmelo was reported as being extremely hyped to go to Chicago and sit down and talk with Rose only to find that Rose wanted nothing to do with him. Rose went in to the gym and said he was busy.
When they were giving Melo a tour of the facilities, Rose was seen just jacking up jumpers and working out. He looked at Melo, nodded, and got back to his workout. Melo said he was shocked because it was a 180 degree difference between how New York's approach and even how Chicago's FO had openly told him things would be (with Rose).

If Rose had acted a bit differently, who knows what could've been.

And let's not mention Rose's "dislike" for Kyrie Irving.

It's sad because I actually respect Rose's attitude towards it more than I do anything else.

"I'm a player, I'm here to win. I'm not here to convince others to help me win." Feels like the alpha dog mentality that we all wanted to see from LBJ before he left to go to the Heat.

Agreed. If you want me to hate Rose, you'll have to find another reason. Nothing but respect for his attitude on that.

I'm honestly hoping it will be downhill from here on for the Chicago Bulls for a long time. Being the team that gets to officially blow up the Bulls Franchise is one of the most pleasurable things I can imagine outside of winning a championship when its come to being a fan of the NBA.
The Cavs blew up the Pistons 5-6 year championship run too, don’t forget.

I am not finding a reason for us to hate Rose, but just saying it doesn't seem like the players around the league are too fond of him. The NBA has a bunch of millennial in the league now. As a FA, if the star player treats any FA like that, they are going to raise some red flags.

High character guys are great, but a guy like JR Smith can really make the difference to a team. Too many of those "unstable" guys can ruin a team though. You want one, maybe two of those guys, if you're confident in your team leadership.

What makes the difference is team leadership. You rely on your team leaders to keep people in line. One of the reasons Rodman worked for the 96-98 run was cause both Jordan and Pippen had the clout to calm him the fuck down. Lebron wasn't going to let someone like JR Smith derail a season. Looking back at this season who was the Bulls leader? Jimmy Butler is the best candidate but he doesn't have the personality. Not yet at least. Derrick was too busy trying to fit in. Noah was a shell of himself. Seems like there was a big hole there.

Rose has just never struck me as much of a leader. Your leaders should be the guys issuing the rallying cry and trying to get other good players to play with them (something LeBron never did his first stint in Cleveland, for what it's worth). Rose has been totally indifferent about recruiting.

Meanwhile, LeBron effectively brought in Kevin Love, Mike Miller, Kendrick Perkins, and James Jones, and he's got JR Smith playing the best playoff basketball of his career. Yeah, Miller and Perkins don't play much, but they're great locker room guys whose teammates love them, and I think great teams need guys like that (although if they can also contribute like Jones has that's a bonus).

Everybody leads differently. In 2010-11 Rose was the guy and he did the job quietly, but effectively. He bought into the new coach(Thibodeau) and everybody else followed suit. Then last season it was Noah who is a more vocal leader. This season, nobody assumed that position.

You guys want a fun exercise, go back to about page 50 of this thread and read the predictions after it became clear that Love was out for the series/playoffs.

Those who maintained that, Love or no Love, the Bulls were nothing to worry about, sure end of looking like prophets right now.

I'm just a genius, what else can I say?

It was still a close series. We were dangerously close to going down 3-1. We ended up winning, but the Bulls were something to worry about, for sure.
