LYLOD IS same guy that said the Cavs were deciding between Williams and Irving 48 hours before the draft. Guy has no inside sources in the NBA.

Re: The Cleveland Cavaliers Magic Number is #3 Thread (2012 Playoffs and Ping Pong Ba

As stated from most people, I get this general idea of the NBA Draft. It is nothing like the NFL Draft. Most trading of top picks will not happen. Almost every team from 1-20 can use a player they draft, and most of the 2nd rounders barely make an impact.

But I can say this with confidence, drafting 4 rookies might be too much for this team to handle. So I could see some moves being made. As unpopular as it may seem, the moves may involve Andy, and with that comes to ability to move up pretty far in the draft, to the lower lottery when coupled with picks.

Re: The Cleveland Cavaliers Magic Number is #3 Thread (2012 Playoffs and Ping Pong Ba

Second round picks, even at the top of the round, are utterly worthless in the NBA (in regards to trade value).

With so few roster spots, quantity doesn't make a bit of difference.

The Cavs are probably better off taking high upside Euro projects at #33 and #34 and just stashing them overseas.

Anything they get in return via trade will likely be swapping apples for apples (i.e. a future 2nd and cash considerations).

I'm not saying Lloyd doesn't believe Nick or Dan, but that his job is to make sure its verified.

You guys are always so negative...everyone sucks, TT sucks, Grant sucks, Barnes sucks, the writers suck, everyone sucks according to people on this forum.

while he was posting that, Windhorst was posting we won both coin flips. His job is to break the news.

I would more than happily trade the NOH 2nd (#34) back to Miami in exchange for Windhorst. The Heat would have to take on the goon squad that make nearly all of our current beat reporters.

But he didn't dispute it, he just said it wasn't official. Whatever, you guys hate him, its fine. This does not matter.

Lemme add that Windhorst was WAY better than anyone since.

I don't think anybody here hates the man, we just wish that he wasn't mediocre in his job.

We only have 7 players under contract. One has a team option. Look at our own history with players taken in the 2nd round. Andy was a 2nd round pick, Mo was a 2nd round pick, Boozer was a 2nd round pick. Sessions was a 2nd round pick, Gibson was a 2nd round pick. Why would we throw away 2nd round picks in a deep draft when we will have 6 open roster spaces left after our two first round picks.

Also, it shouldn't be too hard to turn two early 2nd round picks into a late first round pick. Last year the Twolves traded pick 28 for pick 31 plus a future 2nd round pick.

he didn't report it either. It's his job to break the news. Anyone who follows him was still left wondering.

I wouldn't go that far. Early 2nd round picks actually hold more value than late 1st round picks because they aren't guaranteed.

Obviously you aren't going to be able to trade a couple 2nds to get into the lotto. But they aren't worthless.

Re: The Cleveland Cavaliers Magic Number is #3 Thread (2012 Playoffs and Ping Pong Ba

guitarlifter, you are officially off the hook. :chuckles:

I never doubted this tank for one second. While everyone else was looking at the playoffs, I was looking at ping pong balls snd the lottery. There were days that this board was so demoralized that I had to push the tank myself, but I succeeded. I reallt should get a medal of honor for my contributions to the tanking effort. :chuckles:

Oh, and don't worry, guys, my job isn't done this season (rest assured, I will be back next season) until Davis is safely in a Cavs uniform and we have an additional top 10 pick. WNTL?

I didn't say they were worthless, I said their trade value was worthless. The value of the pick, not the value of the player.

You can find quality players there, I'm not disputing that but the additive value of the picks (in trade discussions) doesn't get you much of anything.

What I mean by that is #24 + #33 probably only gets you in the 19-20 range (if the Cavs are lucky). That's why I say they are pretty much worthless.

You can't make a significant jump trading one and the most likely thing you get in return is a future second. That, to me, qualifies them as worthless (when talking trade options involving those selections).

Re: The Cleveland Cavaliers Magic Number is #3 Thread (2012 Playoffs and Ping Pong Ba

^^ that said, why would we stash players overseas instead of taking players to fill out our roster? We have roster space to give them a chancenow, we won't have roster space in a couple of years. 2 first round picks next year, one in 2014, two in 2015. Plus the kings pick hopefully coming here somewhere in there.

Re: The Cleveland Cavaliers Magic Number is #3 Thread (2012 Playoffs and Ping Pong Ba

Raptors fans pissed again :chuckles: ... "Cavs are a joke dude, I'd take our situation over their's ANY DAY" (realgm)

In what sense can they even say this? For starters, they're one of the handful of teams we can beat out for a low-to-middle-tier FA (which, contrary to the belief of many here, is better than nothing and is at least some part of the building plan.)
