Did you know that so far this year Josh Smith is averaging twice as many blocks as Tristan Thompson in about half as many minutes?

I'd never go as far as to call Josh Smith a high-IQ basketball player. Tristan is about the lowest IQ you can possibly have. Therefore, I would maybe take a flyer on Smith. If he could be our small ball-center. I feel like Smith understands the game, sees the game but sometimes just makes knucklehead/selfish decisions.

At one point Josh Smith was the most versatile player in the league. Right up there with Lebron and Lamar Odom.

Can you imagine Lebron and Josh Smith on defense and in transition? Deadly.

Who'd you rather have, Joe Harris or Josh Smith?

I wondered why the Rockets let Smith go...he seemed to really fit with their personnel and was one of their best players in the playoffs. Was rocker room dissension reported?

The Pelicans are interested in trading for him and they are willing to give up Ryan Anderson. The Suns are 4 games under .500 and they're not built to make a playoff run this season. I'd keep an eye on guys on that Suns roster.

Larry Drew coached Smith for several years in Atlanta. They should talk to him about dealing with Smith.

Smith's main on-court problem seems to be an insistence on shooting 3-pointers and not making them. He actually shot well in last year's playoffs but now seems to be back to his old sub-30% self.

actually, Smith's skillset would fit the Cavs' roster quite well - not sure about his mindset. But he could take JJ's backup PF minutes immediately and someone like his head-in-the-right-place self would provide just about the perfect flexibility in this small ball world.

Josh Smith needs to play with Lebron James. It would bring out the best in him. He would add athleticism and cause matchup nightmares for opposing defenses. All that for a vet minimum guy.

Honestly wouldn't mind Josh Smith, as long as he promises to not take any three pointers with us unless nobody is within fifteen feet of him. If he can keep his head on straight, he'd be a great backup big guy for 15-20 per night.

Josh Smith would be intriguing. I like it, but it reeks of a move that basically would be only to match-up against the Warriors. And while that may not be a bad idea, I'm generally against getting specific team match-up guys ever since we paid Shaq 20 million to get torn up by Rondo and never even see Dwight in the playoffs.

Also would not be against anyone who was 6'6-6'9, athletic, plays good D, and can shoot the three a little bit. Can never have enough of those guys to put next to LeBron.

Don't think we need a move, doubt we make one, but if we do, I'm looking for a big wing who can play D and shoot. Wish we could somehow get Ariza. Maybe if Houston is under .500 at the deadline? IDK.

Denver seemingly has this endless supply of nice roleplaying talent dating back several years now. I would be very interested in Will Barton. He's very young and cheap though, so I don't see Denver having much motivation to move him. It's very hard to find a team that is a seller on the market with the type of wing we would like.

The Bulls are reportedly looking to trade away Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson in order to free up frontcourt minutes for first-round draft pick Bobby Portis.
Portis is buried on the depth chart in Chicago, but he was phenomenal during Summer League and he could be a very fun guy to own if only he could earn consistent minutes in the Bulls rotation. Noah on the other hand has been a shell of his former self this season, and while he's saying all the right things, he's clearly frustrated with his bench role so it may be best for both parties to move on. Gibson has more or less been replaced by Nikola Mirotic, but he has the talent to be a starter on another team. #FreeBobbyPortis.

The Pelicans are reportedly shopping Omer Asik.
New Orleans signed Asik to a horrendous five-year, $58 million deal this summer and it's unlikely there's another team out there looking to add Omer to their roster with that price tag. Asik has fluctuated in and out of the starting five this season, and his averages of 2.2 points and 4.0 rebounds per game render him a non-option in all leagues.

The Celtics, Heat and Bulls have all reportedly expressed interest in acquiring DeMarcus Cousins.

The Kings are listening to offers, but there's been no indication up to this point that they're actually considering trading away their franchise center. Boston can offer a slew of draft picks and some young up-and-coming players (Marcus Smart, Kelly Olynyk, Jared Sullinger), Miami could potentially package Hassan Whiteside and Justise Winslow, and Chicago could include one of their many frontcourt players to get a deal done. With the Kings sitting on a 9-15 record, it'll be interesting to see if they decide to move on from Boogie this season.

Dwight Howard is reportedly "extremely unhappy" in Houston playing second fiddle to James Harden, and rumors are surfacing of a potential trade to Miami.
With Houston severely underperforming this season they may look to shake things up by trading away big D-12, and Hassan Whiteside would be a very above average replacement for the Rockets. Dwight could benefit from playing in Miami's slowed down offense, and he'd have the opportunity to up his current usage rate of 17.8 with the Heat (Whiteside owns a usage rate of 19.9). To be clear, things are still in the rumor stages here and nothing is imminent.

The Rockets have reportedly engaged in discussions with several teams about trading Terrence Jones.
Things are still in the rumor stages here, but a trade away from Houston (and J.B. Bickerstaff) could do wonders for Jones fantasy value. It's worth noting that Rockets officials would like to keep Jones, but with Houston sputtering to a 12-13 start, and Jones struggling in Bickerstaff's system he's not exactly untouchable. To be clear, nothing is imminent at this point.

Wasn't sure where to put this information at, so I placed it here.

The Nuggets have made Randy Foye and J.J. Hickson available, according to Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders.
Both players are in the final years of their respective contracts, and neither one makes much sense occupying a roster spot on Denver's rebuilding roster. However, with Foye currently hitting career-lows in pretty much every meaningful category, his inclusion in any potential deal would likely be just to make the numbers work. Foye isn't worth owning in any league.
