The Finals | Game 1 | Cavs @ Warriors | June 2nd, 2016 | 9:00pm EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I had a bad feeling this was game was going to be the way it was when they NBA had a guy ref. the game that the Warriors were 16-0 with as a head referee.

I love the Cavs, but goddamn if the NBA doesn't seem to enjoy doing this shit.

The Cavs shot 20 free throws to Golden State's 10.

Refs weren't the reason the Cavs lost.

The contested shot stat is so bogus so much of the time. Sure, Livingston made a bunch of "contested" shots, but anyone who has watched Livingston for more than two seconds knows how comfortable he is at backing smaller guards down and shooting that turn around mid-range jumper over them. That's the shot he wants, so giving him that shot against small defenders isn't very good defense despite the fact that it was technically "contested."

No we didn't. The Synergy stats tomorrow will make it pretty clear, so we can address it then.

Your argument, which you seem to be doubling down on, is that Lue decided before the game to scrap the offense he's put together all season to play isolation ball - by design.

Just so that we're clear.
yes exactly. dude i know what i seen. yall guys keep thinking its trolling. but if i have to, i will go to film.

Its tough but Lue's gotta trust Delly, Shump and Frye more.

yep. hes been doing that all season long. all season long.

I don't disagree, which is why I included the caveat of "they let them get comfortable" this first time I posted the stat.

But the idea that they lost because of "too many wide open shots" is not supported by the numbers. THAT is what I was responding to the second time.

I'm proud of the Cavaliers for the toughness they showed against the Warriors.

They shutdown Curry and Thompson and we can learn from this game and take it into all the future games in this series.

Honestly, I think we will win most games when Curry and Thompson are shut down like that. Especially in Cleveland.

This team is a tough match up for us. OKC matches up better against them and we match up better against OKC. Just how it works out.

Just gotta make adjustments in these Finals now and if we don't win the series, keep tweaking the roster to get it where we need it.

dude we iso from the beginning. should i go through the 1st 2 quarters and count for you? il even count hw many times we passed the ball the 1st 2 quarters. i watch the 1st 2 quarters very closely and we iso from the beginning.

This time iso didn't kill us, as it was just our offense of last resort. There was no off the ball movement and no offensive aggression by anyone other than LeBron or Kyrie. No one looking for their shot and no going back up strong 2 inches away from the rim. No cutters, nothing. I do hate the fact the sometimes it doesn't even look like the offense, outside of Bron and Kyrie, even show up to the game. The refs set the tone that we weren't going to get calls, so why try to get bailed out by drawing fouls. Just bad offensive mindset tonight made Bron and Kyrie try to do too much. And we still had a chance to win, so that's promising.

Defensively...

You'd still rather the other guys beat you than Steph and Klay. We just gotta tighten up some things..

No need to overreact...

Now our offense..

Exactly. LeBron basically said this. He all but said "we did what we wanted on defense." They just didn't expect Livingston and the rest of the bench to go crazy.

We freaking held Steph to 11 points on 4/15. That's very good.

After the cakewalk to the finals. We sort of needed that punch in the mouth. Role players know they have to step the **** up on the road.

I feel good about them at home though..

If that's what you took from tonight, then we saw two completely different games.

agreed. Kevin Love didn't even assume his usual playoff "corner sniper" role for much of this game and I think it was some of the best basketball he had played all season. maybe since the Detroit series. real aggressive on both sides of the ball.

Ironically, I think some of the best defense the Cavs played tonight was in a line up that involved both Kyrie and Kevin Love. Lending more credence to the idea that's more about effort than anything else with the both of them.
