Makes me think we need contracts and trades for fans. Another mechanism for accountability, if you will.

For example, i was visiting my family in Ohio for Indigenous Peoples Survivors Day. My brother in law is a nice guy, but a dumb Browns fan. He needed to be held accountable and I knew I was the one to do it. My sister is kind of passive and my Mom has dementia, so she forgot Cleveland has a pro football team.

I sent my brother in law a text, stating i needed to see him in my Brothers home office. He thought it was odd, because we were sitting on the couch next to eachother. Anyway, we sat down and i looked him right in the eyeballs and said:

Me: “the organization has decided to make a change and you have been traded to the Cardinals fanbase. Here is the number to Sam, head of the Cleveland Cardinals Backers and will help arrange everything.”

Brother in law: “what the hell are you talking about?”

Me: “Frankly, you have been questioning the Browns lately — especially Chubb’s carries per game and 4th down Qb sneaks in short distances.”

Brother in law: “Dude…you are fucking weird. I am not even a Browns fan — i am from Michigan, remember?”

Me: “Oh, yes, right — well, either way — you have been traded. I’m sure you will land on your feet. You have a future as a fan in this league. Now let’s get back out there and finish this game of Uno.”

Being honest, i felt pretty alpha, even though my relationship with my brother in law may be strained now, as he has been giving me odd looks since the conversation. Luckily i do not live in Ohio, so i can avoid any awkward tension. I also blocked his number in my iPhone.

WINNING.

This hinged on him acknowledging he “wasn’t even a Browns fan.”

Typical bandwagoner.

Now that he's not getting the Wisconsin head coaching job, do the Browns make a call to Jim Leonhard about their defensive coordinator role?

He'll probably be in high demand on the college side, but if he wants to get into the NFL as a coach...

Again, I’m not gonna lie — it felt really good holding him accountable. Look, i get he is family, but something about putting him in his place made me feel like a man.

Ultimately, he did try and back track with the things i wanted hear like — “even though the Browns have been a putrid franchise for decades — there is always next year with these 2023 draft prospects” or “dumb fans do not realize, once Watson is back and our really horrible defense gets marginally better… LOOK OUT NFL, you are on notice!”

Do NOT even try to pull that hogwash with me! I have the All 22 subscription, twitter follows of the “smart fans/analysts”, QBR metrics, read Kevin Stefanski’s auto biography: ‘Beards, Family and Coaching’ etc.

Safe to say, i did not fall for his ass kissing and helped him google the nearest Cardinals Backers Bar in Rocky River.

can’t wait to see DeShaun operate this offense. Finally he won’t have a guy with physical or skill limitations; I’m sure there will be legit rust to shake off but we will finally be able to fully appreciate Stefanski’s system as a play caller/designer.

Still concerning we go LONGGGGG stretches without points.

Guess he gets a reset with getting Deshaun back. No excuses now.

Very interesting little wrinkle here on the tail end. Can envision Watson executing the fake and taking off with a pitch option.
Nice eye from that Twitter account.

Once you start noticing things and realizing that the coaching staff is putting them on tape today in order to gain an advantage later in the year, watching this stuff starts to get fun.

Tampa Bay has the 7th ranked scoring defense at 18.5 ppg. It was never going to be easy to score on them. We had the third highest point total against their defense this year. KC scored 41 and Baltimore scored 27. They’ve only given up 20 or more points 5 times.

I've accused Stefanski of lacking a feel for the game, and being kind of sterile and disconnected/detached, in some of our dismal losses this season and I still believe that. But against Tampa, credit where credit is due. In this game it felt to me like KS was fully engaged and aware of the total picture, and he handled a lot of decisions as though he had a really good gut feel for what it was going to take to get the win.

I see this as a game where he grew as a head coach versus being the glorified offensive coordinator. I see that as a hopeful development.

If your goal is to come off as a jaded browns fan always paranoid about waiting for the other shoe to drop then you’re nailing it

Good Lord the guys under contract until 2027 and people are STILL finding a way to be typical Browns fans about it

It’s a contract my guy. He signed it, he has very little leverage, teams do this all the time. We literally just did it with Hunt this off-season and Njoku last year. Seriously, what are you talking about?

Njoku and Hunt aren't superstars like Garrett. OBJ's situation and Watson's situation (prior to the allegations) are more reliable indicators. They wanted out and they got out. Contracts don't mean shit when you're a money maker.
