I think Cedi could be trade bait IF Dylan Windler is healthy and if the Cavs draft another wing, especially one that is strong defensively, like Okoro. With KPJ & Nance also able to spend some minutes at SF, in certain lineups, it get difficult to see how the minutes will be distributed. Someone is going to get left out and I can see that being Cedi, as he’s more of a jack of all trades, master of none type.

He could help a playoff team for sure. I still like him, and I like the idea of him at the 2 off the bench with KPJ at the 1, but yeah if we can consolidate some talent, it might be a good idea. Do you think Cedi + Love could snag something good?

That’s a good question. I know the Cavs think otherwise, but I’m still not sure they can get any real value for Love, given his contract. Adding a sweetener, like Osman, may be about the only way. Otherwise, the Cavs may be stuck with Love until the summer of 2022, at which time he will be a $28M ending contract, which should hold some value.

I really liked his interview yesterday. He said Bickerstaff and he discussed competing for the sf spot and he says he is ready to do that and believes in himself. "Competition for playing time will make us better".

Sounded mature and confident. Said he worked on Ball-handling and "shooting range shots". Not totally sure what he means by that, maybe slightly extending his range so he can shoot over screens? He really has turned into a credible spacer. If he can get into that 40% range he will get to the basket easier on hard closeouts, which is a pretty good skill of his.

Tightening that handle would help him the most. Bickerstaff wants to defend and get out in transition. That is a good move for lots of guys on the team including Cedi.

I see Cedi as a Jeff Green type of player. If he is playing a ton of minutes just at small forward with the young guards, your team isn't going to be very good. If Cedi is on the floor with other small forward type players off the bench and switching on defense, he can focus on what he does well.

This also just says something about defense Okoro brought up. He basically said it requires everyone to buy in and he can't change the d by himself. Cedi wasn't going to be able to single handedly anchor the defense.

Imwithdan posted rpm for the magic to show how many good players they had and then the Cavs and how few we had. I was struck because I know some of those players aren't as good as guys on our team, but they do play team defense and work as a unit. Everyone is going to look better and get more opportunities if they can just make a step or 2 away from complete turnstile defense.

Same way when people would show how bad tt and Varejao were protecting the rim showing their opponent field goal percentage at the rim. When you are constantly covering and no one has your back on the 2nd breakdown your defense looks terrible.

Cedi has been a disappointment: he really needed to get stronger and improve his 3 point shooting to be solid rotation player in the league and I don't he's done either. I still think he had the tools but he really hasn't gotten better.

I think he runs a little hot and cold shooting, but he shot over 38% from 3 last year and led the team in 3pt % if you don't count Dean wade and :bigshock:Tristan Thompson

Cedi has added strength. He showed up to training camp a couple years ago bodied up. At least compared to the rail he was before. But it still isn’t enough to keep stronger wings from getting inside on him.

I’ve come to accept Cedi for what he is. A bench 2-3. His handle isn’t tight enough to create his own shot consistently. He’s not explosive enough to do that either. But, he has a great BBIQ and if he can keep that 3P% around 38%, he’s a lot more playable. He shot 38% from deep last season.

I like the possibility of keeping him on the floor with Okoro if he keeps shooting well. Okoro can pick up the better scorer at 2-3, Cedi can get the one who is left. Cedi can provide some spacing.

I think the Cedi and Windler/KPJ pairings will get us in trouble on the defensive end.

Cedi has value. Just not a starter

I think Cedi is going to look a lot better this year. He's a complementary high BBIQ guy, and that doesn't show as well when the rest of the team isn't playing smart basketball.

I think adding Okoro and Windler, the additional maturation of the younger guys, plus having JB, is going to have us playing smarter ball. And that plays right into Cedi's strength.

Beilein really had him sidelined as just a 3 and D. He needs to sharpen his passing and ball handling, but he can do both. I thought he benefited from the coaching change as much as the other guys we mention more. Bickerstaff has been more complimentary of Cedi than Beilein was.

Also, as a Credit to him, Cedi has been mentioned repeatedly in interviews as one of the hardest working guys. He is a part of that grind culture that we always hold up Sexton for. A slightly older guy who played with Lebron working that hard is nice to have around.
