Just after seeing Kirk Herbstrait's dumb smug face on my tv bragging about how this "Wasn't political and the best 4 teams made it" set me off.

College Football is my favorite "stick and ball" sport on the face of the earth. Save for hearing the thunder of 33 cars on tracks at the corner of 16th and Georgetown? it's one of the most pure joys one could have in sports.

But it feels like during the BCS era? The media seems like it's been thrust into playing politics for it's particular network.

I was really hoping that because of the playoff? We'd finally be rid of this conference supremacy pissing match, but alas, no. It's reared it's ugly head again. ESPN and CBS's SHAMEFUL shilling for 'Bama even before Meyer and gang took the trophy was an insult.

And this isn't just about OSU. USC the other power 5 champion and undefeated Central Florida were left twiddling their thumbs with no remote shot at a national title.

But this needs to stop. I want these corrupt people who are pulling this shit to explain to me how we went from seeing programs like BYU, Oklahoma, Penn State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Miami (Fl.) Pitt, Colorado, and Washington were all lifting trophies before they put these two systems in place.

Now? it's the SEC "flavor of the month" Challenge. That's it.

They should.

As I also mentioned in my post?
I believe ESPN needs the rights to the CFP stolen from them as well. With a sport that is so vulnerable to politics like college football and has had a history of being decided off the field? ESPN's brand completely destroys that.
It's akin to holding a debate on MSNBC with Michael Moore as a moderator or Fox with Sean Hannity. You're not going to get fair coverage and they're going to slant towards their own interests.

i'm literally to the point where I think having PBS show the sport would be better for everyone involved.

If you're curious? Here's what the before and after effects of the BCS had on the sport of CFB. I determined. (Anytime there was a "Split" National Championship? I gave them .5)

1979-1997
Ind. 6 Times (Miami (Fl) X3 Penn State 2X, Notre Dame 1X)
Big XII/Big 8 4 Times (Nebraska 2.5X, Oklahoma 1, Colorado .5,)
SEC 4 Times (Alabama 2X, Georgia, Florida)
ACC 3 Times (Clemson, Florida St., Georgia Tech)
Big Ten 1 time (Michigan)
Big East .5 Time (Miami (Fl.)
Pac 10 .5 Time (Washington)
WAC 1 time (Brigham Young)

1998-2016
SEC 9.5 (Alabama 4X, LSU X1.5, Florida 2X, Tennessee 1, Auburn 1)
ACC 3 Times (Florida State X2, Clemson)
Big XII 2 Times (Oklahoma, Texas)
Big Ten 2 Times (Ohio State)
Big East 1 Time (Miami Fl.)
Pac 10 1.5 Time (USC)

What is even worse is how programs/conferences like TCU/Mountain West, Utah/Mountain West, Boise State/WAC, Tulane/Conference USA, Marshall/MAC were treated under this system.

All of those teams went undefeated. Some like Utah and Boise State? Got their shot and BEAT their major conference opponent. Yet they couldn't even get a SHARE of the National Championship.

We even saw it happen this year.

And we're gonna get force fed ANOTHER SEC Championship this year.

This in itself is quite stunning and a good read for an article.
a tl;dr?
06? It probably should have been Boise State that would have taken on OSU. Boise State wins an absolute thriller against OU in the Fiesta Bowl.
07? Hawai'i should have gotten the nod and played OSU. There was a grand total of SIX One loss programs. SIX. And they chose a TWO LOSS team to play them. Programs like WVU, VT, USC, Kansas, Missouri were also left out in the cold
08?Utah went undefeated and didn't get a shot. Five other teams went 1 loss as well
10? 3 teams are undefeated. Auburn and Oregon get the nod. Auburn beats Oregon, TCU beats Wisconsin. We don't even get a split national title.
11? LSU goes undefeated, wins their conference. Oklahoma State finishes with 1 loss, perhaps their best season as a program ever. Oklahoma State beats 1 loss, pac 10 runner up Stanford in the Orange Bowl. Alabama...who did not win their conference? Is sent to play LSU in the Sugar Bowl
13? Florida State goes undefeated. Michigan State, Baylor and Auburn finish with 1 loss. Michigan State goes undefeated in conference, beats an Ohio State program that was ranked number 2 in the country. Auburn, however is chosen as the opponent for Florida State. Michigan State beats Stanford to finish the season 13-1. Yet despite that? Is only rated THIRD behind the Auburn that lost to Florida State in the title game.

This is absurd. It's to the point where if you're a fan of a non-sec program? you're a 2nd class citizen.

it's so bizarre how they keep shoving this down people's throats though. Christ, wouldn't it be more interesting for the sport if the Utah's, Boise State's and Hawaii's of the world could put a golden or crystal football up for all to see than the results we wound up getting?

At the very least (much like March Madness) it would make lower programs like my alma mater Kent State and even mid-majors like the ones I just typed go "oh hey, we can win this thing too if we do things the right way".

is it alright if I bump this?

CBS's SEC telecasts are a sham.

I'm a Purdue fan...I can remember seeing Gary Danielson praising his alma mater less than I've seen slurp up the SEC, Alabama.

They also incorrectly pointed out that a recruit from Tulsa "DIDN'T GET OFFERS FROM TULSA OR OKLAHOMA"

First off? He actually did get an offer from OU.

Second off? No one gets offers from Tulsa...it's the smallest school in FBS. It has 4,000 kids total that go there. It's roughly the size of an OAC school and private to boot.

Danielson has been a slurper for a while now. He's also thinks he's cleverer and more knowledgeable than anyone else, and that arrogance comes across in his commentary. I truly detest him as the color guy and I wish he would retire.

But to be fair, 'Bama is the gold standard and has been so for the last decade. Danielson, however, is embarrassingly laudatory at times. I mean, I get it - he's broadcasting SEC games so he has to appeal to the general audience base. But there are times I'm worried he's going to drown in splooge because of how far down his throat he has Nick Saban's dick.

The saddest thing is he was indeed very good back during the ABC Sports days. The combo with him,Musburger and ABC Sports awesome coverage was perfect.

He jumped the shark on December 2, 2006 when he became an SEC Cheerleader away from where he was which to analyze/diagram play calls.

I've grown weary of 'Bama and the SEC. I respect them, but I find the slobbering of them at this point very obnoxious.

OK. I thought maybe you found yourself fixating on Saban's bulge instead of the game. Wouldn't be the first time, amirite?
I always found the Van Gundy brothers to have distracting dongs.

Then why does the FCS, D-II, and D-III all have playoffs?
Why do women golfers and those who play college basketball have to play during an extended time?

Does the academic success matter less for the women that are golfing for Ohio State than it does the Alabama Crimson Tide Football team?
Does the academic success matter less for the men that are playing football for Indiana State University Sycamores than it does the Clemson Tigers?

This is such typical horseshit coming from these idiots.
