We need to develop this guy and get out from under TT's contract.
Since the Cavaliers don`t practice, I don`t see how any inexperience player will ever develop.

I agree...big take time to develop and the Cavs in the not so distance past have traded their young big men away.We need to develop this guy and get out from under TT's contract.

Even if he only gains a defensive presence, that would be enough to protect the lane.
Yep.I don't know, this guy looks like a stiff to me. He has looked absolutely terrible in his limited playing time. And don't give me G League stats or something. To me it looks like he doesn't belong on an NBA court.

First, it's not true that they NEVER practice.
They just don't do it as often as some teams.
Second, when they are no doing full speed practice, they are still on the court, doing drills, reviewing film and responsibilities, doing walk throughs.
Zicic is getting bigs specific drills in run by Vitaly P. He's playing in some G League games which although trash and very unstructured, still give him some opportunity to run and put in to practice some of the stuff he works on in drill work.
The path he's on is actually not that uncommon for a rookie. Especially a Euro rookie acclimating to his first year in the US.
None of that means he'll ever develop into anything meaningful, but it doesn't mean he won't either. If not traded, he's under team control for 4 more years after this one. It's years 2 and 3 that will tell the story if he has any chance of being a rotational NBA player on a winning team.
Yep.
And just to reiterate, g league is trash and garbage players dominate here all the time. His stats here mean nothing.
I want to see Ante grow his hair and beard and put it back in a little pony tail, Steven Adams style. Then hit the weight room and pump a few 'roids, and become as much of an Adams clone as possible.
Seems like we could have drafted Adams, Gobert, and a bunch of other quality true centers but we passed or whiffed with guys like Zeller. Can Ante become one? I don't know but the need is there if he can see it and step up to the challenge.
Adams is just a natural beast. I wanted him back when he was drafted but I always like the idea of having a true center on the team and we haven't come close to that since Mozgov. Ante seems to have a frame that can pack on some muscle. It remains to be seen if he has the mindset and desire to maximize his potential. He isn't quite the monster that Adams was at 19, but Ante is big. If he could put that kind of strength together, I guess it is possible.
Adams isn't really that skilled, but he can shoot a short jumper. He is a smart defender.
Ante projects to be more skilled than Adams, but who knows. We may never see him. I'd love to get an insider's take on what the cavs actually think he can do.
“I think it is going OK,” Zizic said. “I am right now on a championship-level team, so I don’t have a bunch of playing time. But I’m trying to develop my game in the G-League and I’m doing really good. So I just want to wait my opportunity to show what I can do.
“After a half year, I can say right now I think I am much more comfortable playing this kind of game, and I feel really good.”
Nice article on Zizic from the Boston Globe from Thursday.
