Trade rumor -Z to Denver?

that guy on KNR mentioned this afternoon that there was a possible sign and trade with Z to Denver rumored. he said the Cavaliers would get back Nene and Miller.


i think i would wet myself with excitement if that happened. the PG problem is solved and Nene is nice big to replace Z.

I heard the end of this speculation as I got off work. From what I understood Miller was tossed out their to make the salaries match, but Nene was part of what he heard. If we could land both it would be great. If it would bew possible to get them and then sign Redd, and Abdur-Rahim we'd be looking pretty tough, and we'd be pretty deep. I brought up Rahim because he'd provide a threat in the post and he could push Gooden.

It is one of the better outcomes we have seen with a sign and trade with Ilgauskas. Nene is a talented young player but very erratic offensively. Probably a better power forward then center. Miller is a quality point guard as we all know, but it hardly fills that shooting criteria we are setting for our next point guard.

Like I said, I have heard plenty worse.......

I wonder sometimes if these rumors are floated to get Z to agree to sign a deal on Ferry's terms (4 years, 8 mil per...).

That is true. Jack was traded to Portland leaving then only Boykins at the point. That will not cut it at all for Denver.

Well if it is just a filler then this deal stinks. Nene hasn't evolved like expected. He isn't a great defensive player like some think. He can get nasty which I like, and he is quite athletic. But his game hasn't totally come yet, and may never occur. To me Nene and filler is not enough for Ilgauskas. But hey thats just me.

If the Nuggets had kept Jack this trade would have made a lot of sense. Now if they were looking to cut payroll I guess it would make sense as well. Still a little wierd as Z does not fit their running philosophy

Why would they want Z? Come on imagine teaming him up with Camby at the PF. This is what Chicago has been hoping for years would come out ot of the Curry/Chandler pairing. A defensive whiz to create havoc on one end and an offensive C on the other end that would command double teams.

I agree with Karma that Nene alone would not make this deal work. But add Miller I could really start drooling: Nene, Gooden, Lebron, Redd, Miller would be a tough starting unit. I would serioulsy consider signing SAR as well if deal goes through as we would need a post scorer

I agree. I really don't buy this rumor either. I don't see why Denver would do it and if Miller being involved is just specualtion than forget it. Nene and filler isn't enough. It should only be considered as an absolute last option if the Cavs are convinced they will lose Z, they also lose out on the top FA's and they can't find any other possible replacement C's.

Important note too. Ilgauskas has to agree to make this work. So are Denver willing to pay him for 5 years? Something to think about.
