My first basketball heros were Kiki VanDeWeghe and Sleepy Floyd, purely because I laughed when I heard their names.

I like the "I'm old" game, keep it going.

God I’m old. I remember watching him in the NCAA tournament. Oh, I also remember watching Melo in the NCAA tournament. Oh, and I remember watching Sean Elliot in the NCAA tournament.

This made me think back to my early basketball memories. I remember watching high school point guard George Karl playing for Penn Hills against my high school team (Sharon) and also when he came to my hometown to compete in something called the Hoyle Tournament. Seems like a lot of big names came through, they brought in high school all-star squads from all over. Names like Bob Lanier, Connie Hawkins, Luke Witte, John Calipari. They played afternoons and evenings until around 11 pm, and by the time they got to the championship rounds there was some serious talent on the floor.
