I heard from a guy who is pretty close to things inside the wigwam that we are very close to signing two relief pitchers. They are Roberto Hernandez and Joe Borowski (sp?) ....

I'm not much of a baseball person, but, thought I'd pass along something that came up when talking to a guy that scouts for the Indians, and I actually used to coach one of his sons in basketball ....

Not sure how soon they will be announced, or iif for sure they will be ..but, this is what I've overheard.

Two ****ing stiffs I'm sure..no one who is going to help..I hate this organization...

Love the players though..Grady Haf Choo Marte..

Both had pretty decent seasons last year (36 saves for Borowski). But then again, they were pitching in the NL which is the equivalent of quadruple-A. We have to do something about the bullpen so I guess at least we are addressing it early.

Borowski

Borowski: 36 saves, 3-3 record, 3.75 ERA for the Florida Marlins last year.
He has 80 career saves in his 9 year career, and at the age of 35 will be a nice veteran addition to the bullpen. Could be the closer.

Hernandez: 0-3 record, 3.11 ERA, 2 saves for the Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Mets last year. He has a career ERA of 3.32 a career record of 64-68 and has 326 career saves (his most coming in 1999 for the TB Devil Rays which was 43 saves). He is 42 years old.

Both of these guys will be nice additions to our bullpen...anything is better than what we had last year. We still need a lefty out of the bullpen though, so I'd like to see one added still. My guess that is that, if we sign him, Borowski will be the closer.

42? Very nice..he can be our David Wesley signing..apparently my assumption of the 36 year old utility infielder might be on target..

Might want a 38 year old though for the veteran leadership we'll need at 30-132

cdt...the lifespan of a relief pitcher is extremely long. It's not uncommon for them to pitch into their early to mid 40's.

Hernandez's age is definitely a concern but I doubt he'd be getting anything more than the 60 innings he got last year. We already have Betancourt as a middle to late inning righty. Borowski would definitely be the closer. And he hopefully could do no worse than what we attempted last year (most notably Fausto's flameout).

We NEED a lefty out of the pen. Someone along the lines of the Ass-man, Paul Assenmacher. Just a guy who throws garbage and gets people to swing at stuff out of the strike zone. I've always said if I have a son I'm teaching him how to throw left-handed right out of the womb. You can make a lot of money being a junky lefty.

They're a joke.. I wish they would move down to ****ing Lima or Zainesville Ohio..

Wapakoneta(sp?)?

Borowski would be a great pickup, but i dont see why they would sign hernandez, seems alittle old.

They are quality bullpen additions. We shouldn't be content with just those two, but overall not a bad move.

I didn't realize Blowberto was still pitching. That fvck ruined quite a few games the year he pitched for my Phillies.

Well that sounds promising..another losing teams reject..sounds like an Indians Targeted FA to me..

Hopefully Shapiro reads this and he's signed by 5 a clock..

I remember Robert, Wilson Alvarez, and Alex Fernandez with the White Sox...

BTW, that was like 1993...

He's in heart attack territory now... Hopefully it doesn't blow out so he has to restart the ticker sometime during the 162 game.....grind...
