LOS ANGELES -- The University of Southern California is looking into whether it may have violated NCAA recruiting rules while pursuing highly rated recruit Joe McKnight, a university official said.

McKnight signed a national letter of intent with USC on Wednesday and made comments during a news conference that seemed to suggest communications involving former Trojan Reggie Bush, who is now with the New Orleans Saints.

Former players are forbidden from telephoning prospective recruits, their relatives or guardians.

Hmm so the last person to be questioned by the NCAAF is talking to the new RB Recruit McKnight...hmmm

Interesting..figured I'd post it for everyone who dogs out OSU all the time..USC has a lower graduation rate for players and are involved in some shady recruiting ways..

Print this off for the wifey PIP

All major programs in the NCCA are all shady, and yes, OSU still hasnt the largest gap between graduation of African American football players the White football players.

OSU African American Graduation Percent: 32%
OSU White Graduation Percent: 85%

this is only for football keep in mind...

USC African American Graduation Percent: 46%
USC White Graduation Percent: 61%

so nope sorry CDT, you guys still have the biggest Education Gap Between the 2, which is awful and disgusting.

and just another lil stat for you guys who like to dog Notre Dame, here are there Stats...

ND African American Graduation Rate: 90%
ND White Graduation Percent: 100%

Source

ill await a nice "bucknuts.com" source to say "OSU has a great Graduation Rate."

James you really have no place saying anything on the matter being that you don't even have a team to defend..you sort of bounce around..

I'm not about to dig up stats on the SEC either which is hilarious because your front running with around 10 teams there..many having lower grad rates than OSU

So your saying if we had a lower white graduation that it'd be better? Wrong..

I don't recall ass being on the end..but whatever I'm not going to get into a huge debate about race so let's both drop it..

no, but i think that it should be a level playing field and everyone should be able to have something to be able to fall back on because most guys wont go to the NFL and live the dream life. If a school cant help there football players get an education while they are making major bucks off of them, the school shouldnt be able to compete.

Seeing as how OSU is one of the better football schools, with a good tradition and good fans, they should be the first school to implement such standards and take the iniative to set higher standards. a gap that huge shouldnt be there, not this day and age. and especially not at a school like OSU.

you guys want to be the best football school, thats great and all, but academics are more important in the end, and if you have a bunch of people who graduate and afterwards dont have a degree to show for there time there...its just disgusting.

USC is dirty...Petey has people greasen palms and he knows it....he shoudl have got out to eh NFL while he still could have

I believe OSU is a little dirty but not in the manner of paying players diretly like I believe people do at USC

Tressell is jus a sneaky guy...very sneaky but hes not in trouble so what can any1 do about it...nothin

Hell I wish Michigan was more dirty sometimes....maybe we would beat OSU one time for crying out loud...as much as you all hate Michigan...UM football is as clean as they come...to a fault we run our program almost exactly like Bo did in the 70's and 80's....not trying to play high and mighty it just is what it is

I see USC going down for this somehow unless NCAA sweeps it under the rug

UM has a pretty big gap as well...

50%
and
91%

No chance, unfortunately.. USC is the professional football team in Los Angeles.. That school generates more money and more buzz than OSU and Mich combined... They're great for college football..

If OSU's gets swept under the rug, this will as well... It will obviously be a bit more publicized due to the location and profile of the player (s) involved, but in no way will USC suffer for this.... They're money in the bank...

Which blows... UCLA needs to take advantage..

CDT- I put the story on the refrigerator...:chuckles:

Your wrong. Last year, when the Bucks lost to Texas, OSU generated over $100 million for one season. THe highest ever in NCAA history.

I wasn't talking about one season, Buzz.....

2nd to Notre Dame...

UM is not perfect but they are not dirty...just not how they do things...

I am with Pip though....SC is too big to go down right now but its not like OSU and UM arent making money either

in the end, every school, no matter how good they actually are on the football field has some crooked recruiting ways or some out of control booster, thats just how it is. Football is big business, these kids are cash cows, they arent getting anything in return, no money, and alot of the times, no degree. its a sad system, but its nothing new.

What are you talking about? You've said this a few times now, but I've never heard it from anyone but you. Whenever I call you out on it, not only do you not give any reliable source (like a link), you won't even say why it is you say it!

I'm not sure what the significance of race has to do with this. A student is a student, what's it matter? I'm only concerned with graduation rates of the team as a whole.

Ohio State is never going to have a great graduation rate for its football team b/c of all the early defections to the NFL. That's just how it is. Heck, even kids that stay four years but know they're getting drafted, often don't graduate. They go to class fall quarter of their senior year, play in the bowl game, and then never go to class in winter and spring quarter as they prepare for the draft. I'm not defending them, I think they should finish school, but when you know you're getting drafted and are going to have a signing bonus of a couple million, I could see how you might not be real motivated to go to class. Ohio State is leading all schools in total players drafted the last 12 years. Their graduation rate is never going to be good.

So anyway, OSU's football program is #157 (out of 229 schools) in graduation rate. Again, not good, but not that far from middle of the pack.

While we're on the subject, out of the 6 BCS conferences, the Big Ten is second best (behind the ACC) in graduation rates. The SEC is last: http://www.vandelaysports.com/football/articles/mac-grad-rates_100206.html

By your definition, the SEC is disgusting.

The ACC has some of the BEST academic schools in the whole country, UVA is one of the best Public Colleges in the US, Duke is a very very good school, Wake Forrest, North Carolina Chapel Hill and Miami are all extremely hard schools to get into.

and SEC teams might do bad graduating players, but they to have some of the harder schools to get into academically, Vandy is a private school and is really hard to get into, Ole Miss is one of the premier classic southern schools to go to, UGA is very tough to get into as well as UF.
