All affects of global warming...if our CO2 emitions keep going at the rate they are in 50 years it is predicted that the ocean could raise anywhere from 20-40 feet world-wide....depending on weather all of the greenland ice sheet and the antartic ice cap melt fully of partially...

Not good, thats why we need to research in alternative fuels...

Not just fuels but how we act as a whole. I was watching Al Jazerra today and they had a report on Firestone. I forget where it was at but there were dumping what ever chemical they use to make latex into the local river and it was killing all the fish. Gotta do better than that. Anybody here catch that movie Al Gore did?

Technology is developing at a geometric rate. There is no doubt in my mind whatsoever that we will develop a renewable energy as a permanent solution to the CO2 emissions problem. That said, if the warming problem becomes a crisis that can only be fixed by cooling the earth, we will have options - deploying mirrors/reflective sails in space(sunshade effect), dumping iron filings in the ocean to increase CO2 absorbing plankton, even discharging sulfer in the atmosphere(same effect as Mt Pinatubo erruption in 91 that cooled the earth by 1/2 degree...sulfer absorbs heat and reflects.)

Emissions & warming are a problem, but they are problems that will be solved long before Ohio becomes oceanfront.

Maximus, im offering you a job at EPA.

I'm sure we will find a way to save ourselves too. I just don't want us to be the only ones here. I don't want polar bears to only exsist in zoos.

i saw the al gore movie An Inconvenient Truth, and highly recommend it.

A good portion of the science is flawed, but the message is good.
My real problem with it is he did more damage to the atmosphere pimping the movie with his private planes and fleet of suburbans than all of RCF members will probably do in their combined lifetimes. He asks all of us to change the way we live...yet he apparently is exempt.

Most people are like that. All the people talking about global warming still drive or use gas powered vehicals. No other way to get from A to B quickly yet.

They could fly commercial with the rest of us. The hollywood crowd really pisses me off saying they are making a difference driving their Hybrids...meanwhile their dog Fluffy is being flown alone in a G-5 to meet the family in the Hamptons.

Yeah I just wish we didn't start making movies about it until it was so critical.
In the movie it was cool to learn that Gore had been researching GW since college.

Look at Ford and Chevy they aren't doing so hot, while Honda and Toyota are blowin up and they are the ones putting out the new technology. Hopefully as it becomes more available people will catch on and trade in the SUV for a green car.

I hate snow but I need a goo snow fall already to hit the slopes.

Yeah man! Thats one of the things I was looking forward to when I move back North. I mean we already had crap snow, but now I even miss that.

At least Colorado still gets dumped on.
