Welcome Emoni Bates

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Not sure why I keep posting, but let's not forget how God awful Jalen Green has been for most of his run in the NBA...I do think scorer types seemingly need a lot of shots or something....maybe there is hope.

Green, even this year, has so many sub 20% plus 4 turn over games...hard to count them.

It's tough for a 6'9" ball handler who is getting his dribble attacked by NBA athletes. He should not be bringing the ball up. I don't mind that they threw him to fire, but he got his ass handed to him. He shouldn't play without a pg.

He was playing with 4 bigs basically. It seems like they wanted to lose. I am not sure that was a good position to put him in from a confidence point of view. He needs more run though. He got good shots he would normally knock down. Some of his issues were nerves related probably

He needs to watch Kyle korver tape and not leave until he knows exactly where to be on the court at all times. Like Korver he’s too unathletic to get his shot off. His best bet is to be a guy coming off screens like Merrill and become a knock down shooter. His defense needs so much work too.

For that game, there were no play him with a point guard options. By year three, he’s hopefully got his shit together to be a 8th or 9th guy who knows his role, doesn’t try to do too much, and can play acceptable team defense. Counting on him as a rotation guy next year is fools gold. Lots of development still needed in the lab.

For sure. I don't think that was a serious lineup. It was getting the 2 way guys their longest min of the season.

I was trying to say he is a "good ball handler for his size" not a "good NBA ballhandler" at this point. I do think he should work on that, but I don't think it is his ultimate role. I think his entry point to the NBA is 3 and D guy. Hopefully, he can get better on defense. The difference in speed between league and NBA is too much for him right now.

I think you are ultimately right about his 8th or 9th guy roles in 2 years, but I think he needs actual NBA minutes to get better at this point. I am not sure he is going to get any better playing in the Gleague. Hope he proves me wrong

We don't run that type of offense.

I'd like to see him play with one of our better ball-handers.

Not exactly self-aware is he? Probably not the best moment to call attention to yourself and your own goals when your team is struggling in a playoff series. Not to mention the dude shot 38% from the floor in the G-league. You really think you are going from that to Tyrese Maxey level play in 1 year? Yeesh. Oh well - I guess you have to believe in your self.

What you want him to say?

“I’m not confident please don’t give me more minutes next season because I’m not sure If ima be good”

He’s SUPPOSED to say he’s gonna be the next Maxey

“I just want to make the roster, and go from there.”

Probably a more realistic goal.

Let the young man have high hopes and dreams. Hopefully it fuels him to be great.

He didn't make 1st, 2nd, or 3rd team G-League all-star. He didn't make the all-rookie G-league team. He didn't receive any honors at all. After the season he had, he just sounds immature and foolish. You can still think you are the next Maxey, but you keep that to yourself. You reply with "My goal is to continue getting better because I want to help the team in whatever way possible and I'll let the individual honors take care of themselves". That's the way winners respond. That's the way good teammates reply. He plays selfish. He talks selfish. It may well be that he is indeed selfish.

As always the only path for bates in the NBA is for him to be one of the greatest shooters of all time. Anything less than that and all his other limitations will make him virtually unplayable in the post season
