Cavs needs to build this team around Mobley and Allen NOW. Trade everyone else. Get some shooters and a decent 3 and D SF.

Agreed. We need some taller wings and guards, imagine how stifling that defense could be.

We could be building something really special here with those two to start.

Id try to trade for Derrick White and/or Devin Vassell for example from the Spurs. Jerami Grant from the Pistons. Thybulle... God damn would that be fun to watch (pls learn to shoot Matisse).

But yeah, we need to capitalize on this here.

Aaron Nesmith was my choice this offseason, thought Sexton made a ton of sense for Boston's bench, Nesmith makes sense for our 3-spot and perimeter defense. Oh well.

Anyway: Mobley looks like he might be good at the basketball. All roster "fit" starts and ends with him from here on out.

Mobley’s game resembles that of Giannis Antetokounmpo IMO. Antetokounmpo didn’t blow up until his 4 th year at age 22. If Mobley can add another 20 LBS in the next two years He could be that kind of player

Early on Mobley is looking like he should have been the #1 pick.

not sure I’ve ever seen this kind of defensive polish from such a young player. It’s not just that he’s a good individual defender, it’s that his individual defense already seems to fit seamlessly into help defense and team defense overall. He’s so under control and deploys his length so well, he uses those long arms to shadow people and surround them without fouling them or overcommitting. He always seems to be in position to help with multiple guys depending on which way the offense commits, and he’s already creating a little of that Rudy Gobert feeling that parts of the paint and midrange are off limits if he’s within 10 feet of them

As one of the biggest Mobley fanboys on the site well before the draft, I'm surprised to see people raving about his defense so much last night. Offensively he was great, especially the passing, but outside of a few plays here and there, Mobley was out of position a lot, a little slowfooted, and not challenging as many shots as he should have around the rim. By his standards, he was actually pretty underwhelming on D. He has way more potential on that end than he showed yesterday, so if you were that impressed by that performance, damn you're going to be shocked by what's to come.

Mobley appears to have great cardio!

I didn’t watch much of the game last night, my comments were also based on the preseason. I did notice that he had a -18 +\- last night and our team defense didn’t seem that good, which aligns with what you said

He contested more shots than anyone on the team. Double the next guy.

Defense was a mess. Not his fault. I think they look better there as they get some reps together. Lots of confusion

He contested shots on the perimeter and by the end of the game, Memphis (outside Morant) appeared to avoid attacking him in pick and roll situations, which allowed the game to tighten up. He seemed like the 2nd best player on court in his first game. That's impressive

He's a better dribbler than I expected. Doesn't seem too clumsy with the ball.

Great debut, horrible +\- in -18.
I hate these type of stats! They don’t take into consideration things like hustle plays, switching out and cutting off a scoring lane, communicating on the floor letting teammates know where to go/be, and altering shots (even though he didn’t actually get a block). Today’s game is controlled too much by analytics

What is the need or rush to trade other young still developing young players on rookie scale contracts?

Why does need to happen NOW, as you put it.

Still 1 year of Sexton at this price to see how he meshes over a full 82 games with Mobley and Allen

Still up to 2 years of Garland and Winder at their current rookie deal price to see how they mesh over a full 82 games with Mobley and Allen

Still up to 3 years of Okoro at his rookie deal price to see how he meshes over a full 82 games with Mobley and Allen

If any of them can be moved in deals that actually make sense, sure. But what is your rush to simply dump them and do it NOW?

My dude!

100% agree. If they trade 1 of Sexton or Garland, I get it... but Okoro and the remnants of Sexland (in the trade scenario) stay. Lets see what we've got here...

Because we already seen enough. The Sexland will not work defensively. They are getting abused over and over again every game. And Okoro does not have the size, strength or length to play SF and can't shoot with a gun to his head to play SG. I think letting these guys get abused on the defensive end is going to mess with Mobleys development. Imagine you play your ass off on defense while your PG and SG and SF getting ran through all night. Also Mckannon needs to be our bench big.
