Cavs needs to pull a Jason Kidd and have Mobley play PG so he can develop his PG skills, handles, etc. Just like Kidd did with Giannis. It would only benefit him in the long run.

No offense, but I literally thought this was a joke when I first read it. PG skills?

In no way, shape or form is Mobley ready to play any kind of half court ballhandler role in the NBA. We're getting waaayyy ahead of ourselves here. Every team would put a quick 6'2'' guy on him and he wouldn't even be able to put the ball on the floor.

When Giannis came up from Europe, he was known as a very raw, super tall PG / SF hybrid whose ballhandling was already on another level compared to Mobley. Jason Kidd didn't make that guy.

Not sure what's wrong with letting Mobley make plays from the high post, facing up. That's where he has a chance to be effective. I feel like I'm beating on a dead horse here, but ideally that would mean that he'd play the 5, with Allen as a backup. It would also mean lots of losing, but that seems to be in the cards anyway.

Mobley as a sort of "PF" is like a bad compromise. It's a role that's geared towards pick and pops and spreading the floor in the modern NBA, and he can't really do either at this point. Just bite the bullet, move him to the 5 full time. He'll end up there anyway.

I felt the same way when I first read the suggestion of playing him at PG, but maybe I'm misinterpreting that post. If the intent was actually to say that Mobley can be a primary facilitator from the high post at times, I can get behind that.

With Pangos thus far not looking like a viable NBA backup PG option, I don't mind keeping him on the bench in favor of a lineup that takes advantage of Mobley's impressive vision and passing skills by running the offense with the ball in his hands around the elbow. I think that would also be a justifiable use of game reps to further Evan's development.

I didn't say put him at PG most of the game. Just 10-15 minutes here and there.

We can and should run the offense through him for stints but that is different than being a point guard. Words have meanings.

Mobley's biggest asset is his basketball IQ. I don't think he is as good of a passer as some of you make him out to be, but because of his IQ he recognizes what he needs to do on the floor at all times, ahead of time. He knows when to pass and who to pass to, but he lacks some finesse ( you can see it when he tries to nail a pass from the elbow), and is still fairly limited to basic passing. Have yet to see him make a nice pass off the bounce or on the move(he had that pass to Allen when he drew in the D once, so that was nice..), but that can be a function of being comfortable and free. It's not l;ike he had many options to do so. I think the most glaring thing to me is when I watch him try to pass as a hub..still not that great from the elbow as a passer imho.

But overall, the flashes are there as a passer. Especailly his recognition and vision.

I really like the kid.

Yeah, he's not making Chris Webber flashy passes but just little correct stuff like when he was at the three point line with a decent line on a shot but recognized Love had deep post position on a smaller player and quickly passed it into him. Regardless of what we think about Love, that's the right play to make and the play that people should make for Mobley when he similarly has deep post position.

I like his energy. He's not just out there going through the motions and looking lost like a disinterested rookie. He's all over the floor, rotating, and being active.
