Cavs needs to pull a Jason Kidd and have Mobley play PG so he can develop his PG skills, handles, etc. Just like Kidd did with Giannis. It would only benefit him in the long run.
No offense, but I literally thought this was a joke when I first read it. PG skills?
In no way, shape or form is Mobley ready to play any kind of half court ballhandler role in the NBA. We're getting waaayyy ahead of ourselves here. Every team would put a quick 6'2'' guy on him and he wouldn't even be able to put the ball on the floor.
When Giannis came up from Europe, he was known as a very raw, super tall PG / SF hybrid whose ballhandling was already on another level compared to Mobley. Jason Kidd didn't make that guy.
Not sure what's wrong with letting Mobley make plays from the high post, facing up. That's where he has a chance to be effective. I feel like I'm beating on a dead horse here, but ideally that would mean that he'd play the 5, with Allen as a backup. It would also mean lots of losing, but that seems to be in the cards anyway.
Mobley as a sort of "PF" is like a bad compromise. It's a role that's geared towards pick and pops and spreading the floor in the modern NBA, and he can't really do either at this point. Just bite the bullet, move him to the 5 full time. He'll end up there anyway.
