Look man people are arguing stats back and forth but if you watch these games something has happened. Injury or attitude or something.

He now can't fucking jump. Like no joke, he's not jumping nearly as high as he was earlier. Along with not being able ot catch the ball.

This is really concerning.

Hey @Derek, this post here is my sentiment on JA exactly

I didn't see your exchange with @Cavatt before coming in here to air my grievances with Allen not being himself/healthy since coming back, but I agree with Cavatt 100%

It's not something you can just measure with stats

He's off and not playing close to how he played before the injury and really since the trade deadline.

Each of these games I'm questioning whether his equilibrium is off or if he's just not trusting his body/legs, but he's not the same and it's obvious in game action.

It's a testament to him that he's giving it a go and that he's able to contribute seemingly solid stat lines but he looks about 60% of himself from what we've seen of him before this recent string of games.

Wasnt he bad before the concussion or am I misremembering

That would lend itself to attitude or something mental.

But yes, since like the trade deadline he's been kind of moping around and not nearly as engaged.

But now he's not even jumping or contending as if it's more physical

Concerning for sure

I don’t know, I think he looks like himself. I’ve been watching every game recently.

I don’t think he’s been good tonight by any means. I just think this is what you get some nights from guys in that Myles Turner-tier of center.

Fair enough.

There's a timing, unwillingness to engage or jump when challenged, falling with every bit of contact thing he's got going on right now.

Garland is driving and looking for him to go up and settling for floaters because JA is staying grounded when he used to go up without regard for defenders

But I'll admit my expectation of him has been that what he's shown since coming is his standard. This ain't been it recently

I guess we're legit saving money on his contract now.

He's been getting his ass kicked lately by both big and small guys. What is going on? Why can't he hold onto the ball, why is his finishing plummeting?

He has such poor body language
He was always overrated and not a $20m a year guy.

They just subbed him out for Hartenstein because Allen wanted no parts of Stewart.

Stewart had 3 offensive rebounds and a pop on Allen in the last few possessions

Gratefully, Hartenstein is willing to mix it up with him and just got a tech

Whatever is going on with Allen is concerning

Well then we need to really think about the contract we should hand out to him.

he's getting outjumped and outtoughed by every player on the Pistons roster tonight. It's embarrassing.

Like this is really a big deal considering the contract situation of both he and Hartenstein.

People just dismissing this I think are underselling what's going on.

Hartenstein has been the better player, easily, between the two since he's been here.

At least Hartenstein fucking stands up and engages with his teammates. They cut away for a second when Allen was on the bench during gameplay and he was just like examining the Gatorade cooler all the way in his corner of the bench. I honestly wonder if he just doesn’t want to be with the Cavs and is trying to discourage them from signing him somehow. It seems insane but I don’t know how else to explain it.

According to Cavs Twitter, he's still concussed and/or suffering from other injuries. If so, they need to shut him down ASAP.

sounds like a lingering concussion. the initial tests may have indicated recovery, but from his movement and coordination, it seems like he isn't fully out of it yet. the wise thing is to shut him down. he might be worried it will affect his contract, but heck, his lack of play is making it worse.
