where does the focus shift now ? IMO RAY ALLEN

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I have no belief whatsoever that Hughes will move. Tempted away by a better team? It's all a matter of perspective. Of course, as Cavs fans, we want to believe that we're better than any other team in the NBA. Being realistic, we're not the best, but right about par with the Wizards. Wizards fans, on the other hand, believe the opposite: the trio of Arenas-Hughes-Jamison is the best in the NBA. I'm sure Hughes shares the same opinion. New team, young, upcoming, surprising. They're going places. Remember, they made the playoffs, and we didn't. I believe it's pretty much a lock that Hughes is staying in Washington, I just can't see him leaving. Washington will have to give him as much as any other, possibly more. There's absolutely no incentive to leave.

like i said in my original post i am not saying he will end up with the Cavaliers, but i do think he ends up going to a team that is either closer to contending or is a contender. and while you can talk about that young exciting trio and how they made the playoffs maybe Hughes thinks their potential is maxed out. they had a battle with the Bulls and then got waxed in the 2nd rd. who knows, maybe he is a guy who would be happy just taking the max from the Wiz and playing his days there. maybe he is a guy who thinks if he signs there long term for big dollars along with Jamison's, and Gilbert's deals the team won't have room to improve around them. all i am saying is i don't think he is a 100% lock to stay put, maybe he signs in Minny for the mid-level for 1 year then works out a big deal after Cassell and Kandi are off the books.

but i wasn't saying that Cleveland is any closer at this point then Washington and i wasn't suggesting he signs with the Cavaliers. but i hope after this summer Cleveland is closer then the Wiz to big things.

But see, what the problem is is that you don't believe that Washington is a contender. What you see is a washed up Washington team with a fluke season. They passed through the first round and lost in the second. End of story, they're going to go straight back to the lottery next season.

Hey, it might just happen. It can happen. But that's not what Larry Hughes is thinking.

Larry Hughes sees a team with great potential. Hughes sees a team that surprised the whole league this season, improving its wins from 25 to 45, catching the playoffs for the first time since 1998, winning a series for the first time since 1982. He sees Gilbert Arenas, All-NBA, All-star. He sees Antawn Jamison, the piece that completed the trio, not backing down from his 6th Man award last year. Then he looks in the mirror and sees All-Defensive 1st teamer. Career-high stats. Not from himself, but from his teammates. He'll then say to himself, "Hey, look what we did last year. It was great. Wait til you see what we'll do next year." Wizards' future is just as bright as any other NBA team. I'm sure that Hughes would want to be a part of it.

Between Redd and Ray I would choose Redd. Ray is clearly the better player, but Redd is younger and will cost us less. I want LeBron to have someone next to him on the perimeter that will be in his prime or near it when LeBron is in his prime. Redd could help put us in a position to contend for more years than Ray would. I would be very happy with either though. Although I honestly dont see either of them signing with us.

Exactly. LeBron needs a good team right now but he also needs a team that can grow alonside him. By maxing out a team early, it's a one-shot and done. If you don't get the result next year, you're already on the downside.

i think the thing RAY brings that MIKE doesn't is LEADERSHIP-- i would prefer to have ray in those games that were down 4 or 5 with 2 minutes to go..

he will take the big shot and he will make the big shot...

i think he would be a nice CO- leader of the team...........

I'm actually coming around to the Ray Allen in Cleveland idea. If Z comes back, I think we destroy Detroit who we played well without any shooters.

We'd still have an edge over the Nets as Z is better then Kristic. Plus I think Allen will last longer then Kidd.

Indiana I think we beat for the future as well since Artest will always so something stupid.

Only problem will be the Heat, but again I think Allen/Z will last longer then Shaq who only has maybe 1-2 years left.

Overall, I say throw the max at Redd and resign Z, be title contenders for three years so Lebron will have to resign :). Then rebuild after that: Lebron will only be 24 years old then! So plenty of time to build another contender just in time for Lebron to be in his prime a few years after.

I think the three guys we'll end up bringing in this offseason are Earl Watson, Michael Redd, and Curry to play center. Is this what I would do ? Absolutely not ....these guys will never bring us a championship. But, this is who I think we'll end up getting ...

Saying a 6 year contract vs a 5 year contract really doesn't put it in perspective.

He stands to make 20 million dollars more if he signs with the Bucks. Thats a lot of scratch to pass up on just to play closer to home.

Bulls already said duhon, chandler, and curry will be resigned. We aren't going to be able to pry them away. All three are restricted.

no i don't see a washed up Washington team at all, and i do think they are a playoff team if Hughes comes back. however with those 3 players sign up for big money they are going to have a hard time resigning their other players or bringing in players to help them get over the hump. and frankly i don't think they getting much further then they did this year. look at the Eastern conference

Heat- as long as Shaq is breathing they are better then the Wiz

Pistons-better then the Wiz

Nets-give then a full year with Kidd, Carter, and a healthy Jefferson

Pacers-sure Miller retires but as long as Artest doesn't get suspended for the entire season they are in good shape

Celtics-Pierce and Walker plus Davis with up and coming guys like Jefferson, Perkins, Banks, West, and Allen.

Bulls-i think they are at the same level as the Wiz so it is just a question of who progresses quicker.

76ers-who knows maybe Webber will grow a pair, but truthfully the Wiz have a better upside.

Magic-Stevie Franchise, Howard, and Nelson make a good core, and who knows maybe Grant Hill will stay healthy

Cavaliers- i am hoping they hit all their offseason goals if they do they will be tough. again IF.

like i said with Hughes i think they are still a playoff team but i just don't see them being a serious contender to get to the finals, but maybe Larry does. maybe it won't be a decision based on winning at all, maybe it all comes down to money.

but either of us saying what Hughes is going to do or what he is thinking is a guess at best.

Isn't LeBron in his prime now? :chuckles:

"THE KING" could seriously be in his prime until 2020

i mean he's only 20 now, and a player can usally play into their prime until the age of 34-35 somewhere in there....

so that's like 2020... i'm only 22, but when i see what that dude is doing- he makes me feel OLD as hell :chuckles:

I mean when LeBron is at his peak and playing the best basketball of his career. That would probably in his late 20's - early 30's I guess.

Allen or Redd, I am happy. Allen will cost 2-3 million more which could effect improving other areas. In that sense I am leaning toward Redd slightly, ever so slightly. Redd to is questioned about how he shoots his team out of games. Look at his situation, you do have to realise he has little offensive help unlike Allen. Either way I am happy.
