Do Not Sell My Personal Information
$54.95, so just over that $50 spot. So close....worth the extra few $$

I also enjoyed Bulleit before I found out about the issues that the owner's had with their gay daughter. Haven't bought a bottle of it since. Old forester has become my mixer of choice, but have used maker's in the past as well.

I keep a Bulleit 1.75L jug in my bar for my wife's mixed cocktails... Good price and she can't taste the difference. I think you just changed my gameplan.

Let me recommend Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. A handle is surely cheaper than Bulleit and it's punchier at 100 proof so great for cocktails. I use this whenever I mix bourbon with soda. It's got a flavor profile that mingles well with a Coke Zero.

Or, if you want a slight upgrade with a spicier flavor profile, Wild Turkey 101 is a great value at its price point.

Evan Williams Single Batch has been my favorite under $30 sipping bourbon during the pandemic.

There's a store near me that sells it for $24, which I consider to be a value. The local ABC stores sell it at $35, and I'm out at that price. The bottles I've gotten are usually around eight years old and have an easy, pleasant flavor profile. The most recent one was heavy on the vanilla, which I always like.

The Bottled in Bond is younger and hotter, and has a bit of cherry to it that I haven't gotten from any of the Single Barrel bottles I've had, but since it's single barrel, that doesn't mean much since I've only had about three or four bottles. I try to use stuff around 100 proof for my cocktails, and so it's a nice choice, whereas the Single Barrel is a sipper, not a mixer. It's lighter on the palate and has more depth to it.

Just ordered a bottle of Maker's 46 to give it a try, worst comes to worst my wife will use it as her mixer.

It's probably not going to blow your mind but it's a decent bottle for what it costs.

If you can find Maker's 46 Cask Strength, I highly recommend that one. Really liked it. One of my favorite Maker's bottles that I've tried.

Trying this Laphroaig 10 Sherry Oak and it's like they turned Laphroaig into Ardbeg. I've typically associated Laphroaig with brighter red fruit notes and Ardbeg with darker, more chocolate notes and this Laphroaig definitely has more of the latter. There's some red fruit sweetness in there too, but the dark chocolate from the sherry casks definitely dominated the finish. The red fruit in this reminds me of Red Vines.

Kind of hilarious to pay $100 for a bottle of Scotch that reminds you of flavors from a two dollar bag of candy. But hey, it tastes damn good. Laphroaig knows their business.

So since last year I’ve bought a bottle of the Woodson Whiskey. Had plans on cracking them open but never did. I bought batch 1 and batch 2 (Wolverine color labeling) batch 3 was the Packers color... Realized I couldn’t find these first 3 batches anywhere to snag a 2nd bottle since they sold out.

Batch 4 just recently came out (and sold out) and I bought 2... Looking forward to it...

Far be it from me to yuck someone’s yum, but it looks like Woodson Whiskey uses the TerraPURE process. They force young distillate into the wood using sonic waves to make product faster. Any whiskey I’ve tasted that tried to beat nature simply couldn’t stack up.

There's really no substitute for time in a barrel.

I'm guessing Cleveland Whiskey Co. does the same. Not sure if it's "TerraPURE" but that's the same concept.

I've been semi not-drinking this year with my pregnant wife, but dipped into a scooch of Uigendail. Man is that some delicious scotch. It's probably the first heavily peated scotch I've had in 2021. God do I miss it.

I'm a new member of a local bourbon club, and I got my first barrel pick from said group today. It's a New Riff pick called Riffz (complete with a Ritz cracker box styled sticker). It's five years old and bottled at barrel proof, just under 105 proof.

It's a really nice pick. It reminds me a lot of Buffalo Trace stuff. I've got a Blanton's store pick that isn't far off. They both have a sort of juicy orange/citrus flavor going for them, and this pick has a lot of red fruit like cherry in there as well, and I tend to associate that cherry flavor the most with Buffalo Trace's mash bill #1 stuff like EH Taylor and Eagle Rare.

This is the first bottle from New Riff I've been able to try, as I don't believe they distribute to either North or South Carolina, at least not to any stores I frequent. It seems like they're making some good shit, though.

Right before Covid hit, I went out and tried Jameson 18 yr Reserve. Regular Jameson is water to me, goes down so smooth. I was already hammered but I absolutely hated it. Couldn’t finish the drink.

When I moved out to Phoenix, I found an Irish pub directly across the street from my new place. I tried Tullamore Dew 12 year. One of my favorite whiskeys I’ve tried. I went out and bought a bottle.

This pubs whiskey and scotch selection is very solid. Many whiskeys, American and Irish, that I haven’t heard of before. Green Spot is one that I finally had. Really enjoyed that one.

Green Spot is fantastic. It's one of the more complex Irish Whiskeys and presents a unique coconut note to me. Their other whiskeys (yellow, red, blue) are allegedly good as well but yellow is the only one I've tried and I wasn't as impressed.

You should give Redbreast a try. If you like Jameson and Tullamore DEW, Redbreast should be the elevated form of those, that really hits the same biscuity, shortbread note that Irish whisky is known for. I love the stuff.

Have yet to find an Irish whiskey as good as Redbreast. Lots of quality options, but Redbreast is the best.
