So Gilbert didn't sign a top general manager? Other than Kiki Vandeweghe, who was available? C'mon, the New York Knicks' GM is Isiah Thomas. Ferry ought to be able to do better than that without even trying.
This is Cleveland, though. Because Ferry was a bust as a player, it clearly correlates that Ferry will be one as a GM.
If Ferry simply doesn't make the kind of deal that Wayne Embry made to bring him to the Cavs as a player, he's a plus.
If he doesn't lose a key player to free agency when he doesn't have to, he's a plus. Can you imagine anyone blundering so apocalyptically as Gordon Gund and his little pet Paxson did on Carlos Boozer?
The Cavs do have a spectacular talent around which to build. But the fans know James is going to force a trade, even though he grew up in Akron and has family, friends and roots here.
Why? Because this is Cleveland.
This is Cleveland.. this is Cleveland... yea, that's all that he can say. Curse, curse, yea, whatever. LeBron is a class act, he's not going to demand a trade away from his home town without giving something big to us first at least.
