With the 54th Pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Browns select Michael Hall, DT, tOSU

Unless there’s injuries, Hurst is probably the one to go as Harris and Jefferson have guarantees that keep tnem here..

I have a hard time seeing Ika not making the roster just being a 3rd round pick and also having a unique skillset compared to the other tackles outside of Tomlinson..

He was interesting as a selection, but he was literally unplayable the entire season while Hursr consistently contributed as sound depth and output on an excellent unit. Hurst’s injury history is certainly pronounced but why are we to assume Ika is suddenly able to pull his head out of his ass and realize he has an NFL career?

Would be very very surprised if Hall does not become a Pro Bowl caliber player in this system — playing alongside and growing with some insane talent and veteran presence at the position.

He’s incredibly young for the class, very technically sound and has some very advanced lateral quickness that made him a problem for offenses — someone they had to game plan for.

Yes, but would he clear waivers? Guy was a top 100 pick 12 months ago.
With Hall they have 8.

Jefferson, Peevy and Williams will be cut / PS. Keeps us at 5.

EDIT: Didn't know Harris and Jefferson have guarantees. How "Guaranteed" are these guarantees

Love Hall. My chief concern is his size and lack of production. The latter screams he's better suited for the NFL than college. The former, let's see.

This is the type of kid the Browns take. This is NOT the type of DT the browns take. They usually grab their DTs on day 3 / via FA and they're not as explosive / pass rush centric as Hall is.

If this kid can sniff defending the rush, who the hell knows what he can become. What an incredible roster Berry has built, drafting for depth 2 years down the road.

Very guaranteed, like making the team guaranteed..

Harris signed a two-year deal with $3.9M guaranteed — they take $3.9M cap hit pre June 1 and $1.8M post June 1..

Jefferson got $3.6M guaranteed on a one-year deal which puts him in similar boat dead cap/cap hit savings wise as Harris..

Hurst only got $1M guaranteed on his 1-year deal.. Based off of that and his skillset is most similiar to Hall’s, I’d say he’s the most at risk and really only thing that would save him is injury..

I’m hard pressed to believe they’d cut Ika after one year especially since Harris/Hurst/Jefferson/Hall all have similiar skill sets / the way they win.. Feel like Ika brings some different skills especially in case Tomlinson gets hurt..

We’re worried about good problems to have but these types of things usually work themselves out in camp due to play or injury..

I think he’ll be a fine player, but I’d be more surprised if he ever played at a Pro Bowl level. His height/weight/strength combo and overall production is a bit concerning for an iDL in the NFL.

Was there any reason why he didn’t do the agility drills at the combine? Would just be interesting to see how his numbers lined up with other DTs of that size. I know it’s dangerous to compare anyone to a player like Aaron Donald, but I just looked at him since Hall and Donald were relatively similar size coming out of college. The thing that allowed Donald to succeed at that size was being elite strength, quickness, and ability. AD could beat NFL RB’s, DB’s, and WR’s in quickness and agility drills.

The strength is where he’s going to have to significantly IMO. Unless his lateral quickness and explosion is truly elite at the NFL level, it might not be enough to overcome his size/weight/strength combo.

I could see Shelby as the odd man out if they look at age and want to give their young guys playing time.

Follow the money.

Harris: $3.99M GTD
Jefferson: $3.66M GTD
Hurst: $1.00M GTD
Ika: $857K GTD

Tomlinson is obviously not going anywhere, neither is Hall.

One of Hurst or Ika will be cut almost assuredly, if for no other reason than pure finances. I just can't envision a scenario where they keep 6 DTs though.

Berry has cut like what? 3 players total that he has drafted? I think it’s a lot more likely Harris is gone. Regardless of the 4M owed.

Let’s hope he is better than the last Ohio State DT we drafted.

Togai never showed much of anything at Ohio State except for having a reputation for being really strong - which never translated to anything at all. Hall — while inconsistent at OSU - showed flashes and games wherein he was dominant and borderline unblockable.

Hall needs to develop for sure, but the value is perfect and they’re not even slightly comparable as players except for having gone to the same school. I’m not saying he’s a guaranteed success but damnit if I don’t like the look of him lining up next to a first ballot.
