Minnesota Shopping Pick

The 14th pick is being shopped by the Timberwolves who apparently have grown used to not having first rounders after not having one in 3 out of 4 years, after the Joe Smith illegal contract agreement.

If the Timberwolves could add a shooting guard such as Martell Webster or Antoine Wright at 14, they would gladly hold onto their pick. But since both will be long gone by the time they select, they are actively shopping the pick.

The T-Wolves will move the pick to a team willing to take on a bad contract such as Wally Szczerbiak's. So far there has been some interest, possibly the Knicks, who just can't seem to spend enough.

Hmmm. It seems that the Wolves would rather trade for a shooting guard to replace Sprewell than to draft one. Do you think the Wolves would be interested in any of our wingmen?

Ira Newble for their 14th pick, LOL. done deal.

#14 would probably be a fair deal for Sasha. We can probably pick up a young PG with that one. Although not quite a starter, playing alongside Garnett with good minutes would help him grow.

I thought the exact same thing when I saw that. I Sasha for the 14th pick seems like a pretty good deal for both sides. It'd probably be even more likely to happen if we had a 2nd rounder that we could offer, but we've traded those for a while. Considering some of the contracts they have, their ownership might be willing to make the trade if some cash was tossed in.

I think they're only dealing there pick if they can get someone to take on salary. This isn't us. However, if we can swing a deal that odesn't have the potential to strap us financially, looking into it might have some potential.

I dont know if Sasha is enough for the 14th pick. You can probably get a swingman with more potential like Martell Webster or Francisco Garcia with that pick. Im not sure how high Sasha's stock is right now though, I might be wrong.

That's the thing... potential. Sasha had potential when he was selected mid-first round. He's been developing for 2 years now and has shown signs of progress.

Martell Webster has potential this year... and he'll be developing for a bit before an assessment can be made as to what extent his talent will get him in the league.

So, some teams could be thinking: Sasha is a tad more mature and developed, might as well grab him now rather than wait on other untapped talent. Who knows what could happen

I see what your saying. I guess it would just be up to them on either taking someone that is more proven and experienced, or taking the chance on waiting on a player that could develop into a better player but is unproven.

Minnesota's window with Garnett is slowly closing. They want results now and this is why they want to move this thing. Unfortunately it will mean taking a bad contract to get the pick. No thanks.

How about the 14 pick and Troy Hudson? We need a shooter like Hudson and the 14 pick we can get a PG of the future. Don't know if Sasha would be enough though

I think Hudson signed a 6 year contract worth about $37 million last summer. I wouldn't want to take that on.
I really can't see the Cavs and T-Wolves being a good match for a trade like a Sasha for the 14th pick.

What really sucks is that the Cavs would have been selecting 13th if they hadn't made the Welsch trade. We wouldn't have to discuss trading for a #1.

Yeah, and the mock shows Raymond Felton as being picked at 13. Go figure.
