WWE/NXT/AEW/NJPW Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Was never into Sting. The little i watched of WCW and the development of the NWO, I preferred blonde hair, colorful face paint sting.

Crow Sting was the best storyline in all of Wrestling in 1997 until they botched the finish with Hogan.
How ? They stripped him of his personality…

The guy never said anything, wasn’t a savior, wasn’t a baby face or heel…

It would have been one thing if he came in with that persona like the Undertaker did— but to go from a colorful flashy character to this is just bizarre…

The anticipation of Sting coming down to the rafters, the play of trust with the bat, being one of the few to get the upper hand on the nWo was awesome. The ratings showed that it was the storyline fans invested in most.

The problem was the payoff. Instead of him going over Hogan clean and stating his intentions. WCW creative forced Brett Hart in and the botched decision killed the momentum.

It’s like a females getting you right before finish and she stops.

Fans spent 3 hours waiting for Sting to appear and lost it every time he did. They just did an awful job paying it off.

If Sting had gone over clean, cut a promo on Nitro the next night stating his intentions of restoring order to his company WCW… he would have exploded

Crow Sting was a major draw and Starrcade 97 was the highest buyrate in WCW history. It was all mostly due to him and how him vs Hogan was built. I don’t think he is overrated at all but I wish he hadn’t wasted so many years in TNA.

And Shame on WWE for not giving us Sting VS Undertaker.

I agree. It was a huge build a draw and brought in BIG money. Only wcw PPV I ever bought. The finish and payoff was….WCW, a major let down.

If they would have let Sting go over HHH, they could have set up Sting and Undertaker as a match that would have damn near been the main event of the next mania. But no way Vince lets a WCW guy go over DX.

If you enjoy the "both guys hit a million big moves, many of which land on the neck, and nobody sells" style that is modern wrestling, then I get why you love Will Ospreay.

He's the best in the world at that style.

The characters alone would’ve made it intriguing.
Sting has always had really good size and athleticism as well. Same obviously goes for Taker. I personally think it would have been great.

A chaotic final match for Sting but wouldn’t have it any other way. Great finish to his career.

And my word Darbys bump into the glass was rough to watch. His back looked like a murder victim after it.

The match was obviously goofy as shit, but that was the point.

Crowd loved it.

As far as in-ring action goes, AEW still excels at a low to no build PPV. Felt like a super long event.
