Sony would be stupid to release it at that price, so that's a farce. Plus the article even said the euro price is higher because of the sales tax.

So while the Euro price may be that, the USA price will be much lower than the translated price because of tax.

While the sales tax is high, it is not that high that it will shave $200+ off the US price. I'm the moron?

gotta look at price points in this case perceptual price points... paying 600 and 700 bucks for a system will turn off the average buyer and sales will go down BUT if you sell it at 400 and 500 hundred after talking about it being 600 and 700 people think they are coming out on top and while sony may be taking a loss up front in the long run making money which is what their goal is anyway.. you figure cost of materials may exceed the sale price but with all the add ons you have to buy like an extra controller and mem card as well as games alot of which are exclusive to the ps3 that all raises money for sony so while on paper looking only at the ps3 cost and sale prices looks horrible when you look at the big picture i wouldnt be surprised if sony pulled a profit in what ever quarter its slated to be released...at the very least come out even

I am down with dat 100%. BUT do u or the average buyer have/want to give out at least $500 for the system alone? Ya Sony will make money on other stuff, but in order to sell the other stuff, u need people to buy the actually system itself first.

thats what i mean with perceptual price point id buy it if it was 499 but if it was 599 id turn it down even if it came with a game cuz it looks like alot more even though its just 100 bucks people dont wanna pay an arm and a leg for stuff but at 399 and 499 people will pay

Dreamcast was sweet....but the games were no where near the games on the ps3 and the Dreamcast just didnt appeal.

But it was a very good system

I was so pissed with the ending though. I did buy it for Xbox, only problem is, I didnt have an Xbox.

I will play that game again at some point in time.
