Since A.J. Price was waived, the Cavs have an open roster spot. Who should they go after?

In possibly related news, Samuel Dalembert cleared waivers today and may sign with any team.

Other names that have floated around include Ray Allen, Jermaine O'Neal, and Emeka Okafor (sounds like he won't be back this year).

Griffin indicated in his comments about Price's release that the Cavs would like to replace Price, but they might be able to get away with spreading some of the PG responsibilities and focusing more on improving their depth at C.

Ray, O'Neal, or Dalembert.

Not sure of the order of preference.

Good update on the Dalembert waiver.

He would be my #1 priority. I don't think you can roll with just Love/TT/Mozgov, we need another solid big in case of injury especially with Love's tendency to get banged up. Not to mention having two solid true centers you could play alongside Love at all times should really help us defensively.

PG is a lesser concern to me because we have guys who can handle the ball if need be and could even play a bigger guard in that spot like JR or Shump.

Don't need Ray Ray,
Cavs have Smith, JJ and Miller ffs!!

I could see Dalembert landing in Golden State as an insurance policy for Bogut. I'd prefer Dalembert, but if we end up with some almost retired guy, that is okay with me as long as they do more work building a unified locker room than playing. This team needs its 40 year old Juwan Howard.

Dalembert would be best, but a guy I also like is the just released Jeff Adrien. He's a smallish PF, but really tough, gritty, and knows his role.

I agree. As much as I believe in the idea that you can never have enough shooters, we are still a big man short.

We have a lot of guys that can play on the wings, and we have a few different guys that can run the point. One last depth big is what is needed.

I don't care much about the position the player would fill but he has to be a defensive minded player - a must!
There are enough shot takers, ball handlers, and offensive prodigies. But defensive specialists? Crickets…

With this team being healthy, Delly can take care of backup PG fine. And we have Shump and LeBron to handle the ball. I don't think a back up PG is too big of a need. I'd advocate another big. I'd even advocate another wing if we were willing to trade Marion, Miller, or Jones but I doubt we are.

I would guess we would want to wait until the deadline to see what may present itself and remain flexible with that last spot, but we may not have that luxury because I doubt Dalembert lasts on the market that long.

And I think the Ray Allen ship sailed a long time ago.

I don't think you win a championship with Delly as your backup PG. Especially how much Blatt likes to play him.

Having said that, I'd rather have another big than a PG...if I had to choose.
