They gave up an awful lot for a guy they think is a backup for his career.

I do, however, hope you're right and won't hesitate grabbing a center that could be more effective at his position. As it stands now, who can the Cavaliers give the ball to in the post to get a basket?
Two 2nd round picks is a lot?

I wouldn't mind taking a project center like Zeke from Akron...surprised to see him on that mock

Tell me about it.

I don't see how the Cavaliers wouldn't have both rookies in the starting lineup at the beginning, or damn soon right after, the beginning of the season.

The sooner the Cavaliers can get Varejao coming off the bench, the better. He excels in that role, and it will allow the younger ones to go out there and work as a team to develop for the future.

AV is going to finish games, we all know that. I don't see why Zeller wouldn't start the game with TT, and then AV would be the first big off the bench for either one of those guys.

Imagine Waiters and AV coming off the bench but playing near starter's minutes.

Too bad that would mean the starting lineup of Irving/Sg?/gee/TT/Zeller would get us into a hole

But to everyone saying the Cavs drafted a great 6th man w the #4 pick - the cavs do NOT think they are gonna bring waiters off the bench - they want him to eventually be a good starter or star

Could you imagine if we had both Tyler and Cody Zeller?

Is that too much whiteness for one frontline????

Did anyone watch LeBryan Nash last year?

From Oklahoma State? Yeah... That kid is a poor man's MKG... Better shooter by a bit IMO though. I'm not saying he's as good but his stock will move up. Worth a 1st round pick.

If we make the 8th seed and land Adonis Thomas or LeBryan Nash, with our players continuing to get better, damn.... just damn....

Just go BPA as long as it isn't a PG, at this point. Obviously everything can and will change, so we'll see, but it'll be fun to talk about for the next year. The countdown is on.

Personally, I think we need to land one more top 5 pick before we can start surrounding our core with role players. I don't think Irving/Waiters/TT/Zeller is a championship core at all. It is imperative that Grant does whatever he can- including bringing out the dreaded tank for one more season- to ensure we get a shot at another top prospect in 2013.

I would hope it would be a Center or a Small Forward, preferably a Center. Adding a star caliber center to this young core would be ideal, and make this a nice team on paper going forward. Zeller could back up whoever we get. But, it doesnt always work out that way, so a SF or even a PF would be welcome. Just go BPA unless BPA is a PG.

Hoping for another season of tanking is pathetic. I cannot fathom how some of you people call yourselves Cavs fans yet hope for yet another abysmal season of failure. I personally believe we have the players to compete, especially if we add a Nicolas Batum to our roster.

Here's to hoping for a #17 draft pick next season and a world of playoff experience for our young team.

Zeller/Irving/Waiters/TT is not a championship core, and I'm embarrassed for anyone who thinks it will be. Fuck playoff "experience." Talent wins NBA titles.

You haven't seen Waiters or Zeller play in the NBA yet and you think you're smart enough to consider them not talented enough to form a championship core? Hilarious. If Waiters is anything like Dwayne Wade we will be talented enough to compete, just not experienced enough. Hence why you need playoff experience to develop the players you have drafted even further.

Cheering for our team to lose is the most disrespectful thing a fan could ever do. I don't even think you can be considered a fan if you're rooting for them to finish in the bottom 5 of the league 6 months before the season even starts. Now that is embarrassing.

Tanking will be a hell of a lot tougher this year...I honestly don't see it possible unless there are several significant injuries.

If we can get in the 6-10 range I think Shabazz Muhammad will be there.

Does ANYONE project Zeller as something other than a backup center? We're banking on Dion Waiters being the second coming of a top 5 NBA player? Do you realize how insane this sounds?

Sometimes, you don't need to see them play a single NBA game to know what they are or what they will not be. Waiters might be really good, we don't know, but I think we all know what Zeller is going to be.

Need more talent. Plain and simple.

By the way, I'm actually cheering for them to win the NBA title.
