Does ANYONE project Zeller as something other than a backup center? We're banking on Dion Waiters being the second coming of a top 5 NBA player? Do you realize how insane this sounds?

Sometimes, you don't need to see them play a single NBA game to know what they are or what they will not be. Waiters might be really good, we don't know, but I think we all know what Zeller is going to be.

Need more talent. Plain and simple.

I would be happy with Zeller as our starting center if he averaged 14 PPG 10 RPG and played tough defense. I also think he is capable of this as well. He was projected in the lottery for a reason, just because he's white doesn't mean he's a bad basketball player (ACC player of the year). You also don't need All-star production out of your 5 to win an NBA championship (Heat/Thunder).

Need more talent? Of course we need more talent our roster is paper-thin with it. That being said, I don't think we are as far off as you do. The only hole I see on our roster is the starting 3 spot (Batum?) and to fill out depth on the bench. Waiters was drafted 4th overall, so if he doesn't become a star in the league it's on Grant and the front office. At this point, I am expecting him to become one with the confidence our staff has in the kid. Kyrie is already an All-Star point guard and should come upon superstar status in this league soon. Waiters and him could become the best backcourt in the NBA if things pan out as we want them to. Tristan Thompson seemed to get progressively better last season and I believe that everybody will be shocked with the improvements he's made in the offseason, the kid works extremely hard. We also know what we have and will get with Andy, although I wouldn't be shocked to see him traded at the deadline if we're not making a playoff push.

Also, we have a stockpile of draft picks already and could trade into the lottery with multiple picks next season if we truly want a specific player. Personally I know the Cavs aren't winning the championship, but I sure am hell cheering for them to make the playoffs. I also think it's possible this upcoming season with the additions we have made.

hope you are right.. he would really have to struggle to go 6-10

Just because we have 6-10 range, doesn't mean we won't win the lotto. Stern owes us one more.

Yeah, and if this were true, the Cavs would still have LeBron and several championships right now.

Just because the staff is confident in its players doesn't mean its capable of winning shit.

You kidding, he'll still be runnin the Hornets lowkey

I don't think so. You got Rivers, Gordon, Davis, and possibly Kaman. That's a playoff team in the west. very low seed and barely in, but a playoff team.

No chance.

No chance? Have you seen the West? Teams made the playoff 6 games above .500 I think they have a good shot. well at least they have a shot.

Imagine Waiters and AV coming off the bench but playing near starter's minutes.

Too bad that would mean the starting lineup of Irving/Sg?/gee/TT/Zeller would get us into a hole

But to everyone saying the Cavs drafted a great 6th man w the #4 pick - the cavs do NOT think they are gonna bring waiters off the bench - they want him to eventually be a good starter or star

The only thing stopping DWait from starting is DWait injury or he totally is crap...Cavs aren't gonna start Gibson or Harris..thats laughable at best.
That SG spot is his.
I think SF is the spot Cavs will target in 2013..and they should target another 5. Perhaps a guy that can play both PF/C position.

I've been saying this for a while and this is why I was a huge fan of trading the Cavs 2013 first rounder to get back into the lottery this year:

As of now, how is the 2013 draft class shaping up?

Chad Ford
(1:29 PM)

Not too good. No one quite on par with Anthony Davis. Nerlens Noel plays a lot like Davis but has an even rawer offensive game. After the top four or five, there's a pretty big drop off. Some scouts are saying this could be one of the worst drafts in the last decade. Sorry Bobcats fans!

This is why I hate the "tank" mentality.

For all you guys know Shabazz Muhammad could be Harrison Barnes 2.0....he could come in and be okay and stay another year in college...

Or Nerlens Noel could be the next Ekpe Udoh...the best comparison to his game right now.

You will be disappointed...

Zeller is not going to average 14 and 10 as a rookie in the NBA....probably NEVER.

He is the second coming of Nick Collison.

He could be...and then again they might not be, they might end up being stars.

Nobody is advocating sabotaging the season. I think they're just saying moves made by Grant should still be as if we're looking to the future, not "right now."

I remember people saying the 2009 draft was going to be one of the worst of all-time. Some players out of that draft:

Blake Griffin
Harden
Reke
Rubio
Curry
DeRozan
Lawson
Teague
Maynor
Collison
Gibson
Budinger

Fact of the matter is NO ONE knows how good or bad the draft will be a year in advance. Hell, no one knows the night of the draft.

But its better to have a pick than no pick at all.

From what I've seen so far, I'm a big fan of Kyle Anderson and think he'd be the perfect fit on our team. When you have two dynamic scorers like Kyrie and possibly Waiters at the guard spots, bringing in a do-it-all point forward with incredible vision would allow the team to play with both off the ball. He would add a whole new dimension to the offense and hopefully make everyone even better.
