Varejao > Griffin huh? I have heard it all now.

I can't imagine the Clippers reaction if we were to ever offer up AV for Griffin.

Yup, I've watched a bunch of his games and I've been impressed every time. Don't think he can play guard in the pros since he's too slow and he'll regularly get abused on the defensive end, and I don't think he can play PF as he has average size for the position and isn't a great athlete, so SF is as good a position as any I guess. He's got such a unique skill-set, I'm not quite sure how it'll work out on the Cavs. He definitely has to improve his jumper, but I can see him taking at least some of the playmaking responsibilities away from Kyrie and Dion and allowing both to focus more on just scoring.

I have only seen three of his games, but I completely agree with this assessment. He reminds me of Hedo Turkoglu but with better decision making. He still has a lot of physical maturation to do as a guy nicknamed "slo-mo" may have trouble with the NBA tempo and athleticism, but at just 18 years old he still has plenty of time.

Admins know we will turn this into the number 1 topic of the summer:chuckles: If it is on the main board page 200 by October book it.....
It will get moved when the main board starts to calm down. Probably after summer league. This is the draft forum -- it's the right place for this thread, at least for now.

Saw something on RealGM and thought it was worth dropping here:

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/222205/Andrew_Wiggins_May_Reclassify_To_Class_Of_2013

Andrew Wiggins might end up reclassifying to become part of the 2013 class.

“If we could get him to college early which would then get him to the NBA earlier, as a coach and a mentor to him, then we have to tell him, ‘Hey, this is probably the direction for your development that you will probably want to go,’” Wiggins’ high school coach, Rob Fulford said.

“But also if he’s not ready we’re not going to push him because he’s still young. He wants to experience high school. It’s not like coming back here for a year is not going to help him. He’s gotten bigger, stronger. He’s gotta develop.”

Wiggins, widely considered the best player in the class of 2014, left the door open on the possibility of an early graduation.

^ Ender is entering the NBA?

Holy shit -- time to kill some buggers -- start the tank!

He won't be 19 until 2014, so isn't this all moot unless they change the rules?

All drafted players must be at least 19 years old during the calendar year of the draft. To determine whether a player is eligible for a given year's draft, subtract 19 from the year of the draft. If the player was born during or before that year, he is eligible.

The "one year out of high school" requirement is in addition to the age requirement. For example, although O. J. Mayo turned 19 in November 2006, six months before his high school graduation, he was not eligible until the 2008 draft, a year after his high school class graduated. Stern stated the rules were business-related and not a "social program", citing the need to see players perform against higher competition before they are evaluated for valuable draft picks.

The "class of 2013" means he'll be graduated from high school in 2013, making him eligible for the 2014 Draft (something that confuses people sometimes), instead of graduating in 2014 and being available in the 2015 Draft.

I know it is very early... but I love the strength, toughness and leaping ability of Combo Forward Tony Mitchell from North Texas..... I have a bad feeling he will rise into the top 5 or 7... He may be able to handle the ball well enough to be a 3 and his shooting is really coming along!
I think we will be picking anywhere between 8 and 15

Tony Mitchell is a guy I've been pimping for over a year now. I was PRAYING that he'd come out in the 2012 Draft and that he'd stay under the radar a bit. Alas, he decided against coming out and he'll be going in the top 10 in the 2013 NBA Draft. Had he come out in 2012, he would've been my choice--even at #4. I think his talent, strength, defense, shooting, passion, competitiveness in a 6'8" athletic package make his future VERY bright. If people were gaga over Royce White's ability, Tony Mitchell will be even better. Mark my words. If the Cavaliers have the chance to draft him, I pray they do (or, I pray that John Hollinger ranks Mitchell highly enough for the Cavaliers to want him). There's only one player that's eligible for the 2013 Draft that I'd CONSIDER taking above Mitchell, and that's Steven Adams (although, I'd probably still take Mitchell over Adams today). Yes, I'm probably crazy and the only one that thinks that, I just view Mitchell as an incredibly talented player with physical gifts that aren't matched by many.

I like Tony Mitchell too, but you would seriously take him over this kid?

Personally I wouldn't take anyone over Muhammed. He looks far more impressive than any other prospect in the 2013 draft imo. Of course a year of college ball can change that (look at Drummond, and Barnes). If we get into the top 2 Muhammed is the player the player I hope we take! If not then we really need a forward, or a C (the year of the C...).

Yes.

Call me crazy. I see more in Tony Mitchell than I do in Shabazz Mohammed. Don't get me wrong, if we ended up with Mohammed, I wouldn't be upset at all, I just see more Tyreke Evans than Kobe Bryant in his game. That mix you showed had one jump shot in it. He can get into the lane. He can score. He has decent handles. I just don't see him as that alpha dog that everyone makes him out to be. I also don't see him playing well off the ball. And don't forget the off the court stuff with his entourage, almost not being eligible for college, etc. Mitchell I see as a bigger sleeper with more upside.

My 2013 prospect rankings, as of right now:
1-Tony Mitchell (6'8" SF North Texas); 2-Steven Adams (7'0" C Pittsburgh); 3-Cody Zeller (6'11" C Indiana); 4-Shabazz Mohammed (6'5" SG UCLA); 5-Nerlens Noel (6'10" C Kentucky); 6-Rudy Gobert (7'1" C France); 7-James McAdoo (6'9" F UNC); 8-Dario Saric (6'10" SF Croatia); 9-Otto Porter (6'8" SF Georgetown); 10-Alec Brown (7'0" C Wisconsin-Green Bay)

Christian Watford (6'8" SF Indiana) is a guy I'd love to get with the Lakers (swap with the Heat) pick.

Let's hope we get anther lotto pick for next season and end up with the #1. A lot of teams around us got better. Toronto, Golden State, New Orleans, and so on. We might have a shot at the title.

Can someone that has seen Ottto Porter tell us what you think his potential is? (Hope the mods move this to the main board after the summer league10
