2015 Draft Prospects

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Cam Newton only had a year of experience at the major college football level.

Two years starting experience overall, plus another two learning under Meyer at Florida.

And he still is a mechanical nightmare.

You can't just be a big arm in the NFL.

What was your reasoning for loving Tom Savage so much last year again?

Tom Savage probably has the best arm of everyone though.

Savage has the best arm in the draft. Has flashed plus accuracy as well, but struggles with consistency and had little help as well.

I really think the NFL is where he can gain more consistency with better coaching and talent around him.

I think his arm strength is the best in this draft (yes TripleThreat, including Manziel), and he's absolutely worth looking at given the flashes of accuracy he's shown on some NFL caliber out routes and down the middle throws.

Also important to remember that my manlove for Savage was under the assumption that he was a third or fourth round pick. At the top of the second round I like him significantly less, but that's what happens with quarterbacks.

Could live with Tom Savage in the second

And I like Cardale Jones as a mid-round selection.

But Savage had far more experience and as I said, flashed some really good accuracy when I saw him play last year.

Jones isn't terribly accurate with many of his throws, trust his arm too much and breaks down mechanically from time to time.

He's got almost no starting experience and when he was in there they gave him almost nothing requiring more than one read.

Matt Cassel.

That's an extreme outlier, just like Cardale would be. Just pointing out that it has been done.

Forgot Cassel. He has to be the 1 and only in the last 20 years. Still, he had some success but it was short and his lot in NFL life is a backup.

Anyone who tries to play Cardale Jones at the NFL level in any of the next three seasons is doing it completely wrong.

Mid-round developmental guy if he declares this year, which is exactly what he should do.

Even as a mid-round pick with developmental upside, you're looking at $2.5 million at the worst.

He's certainly not going to start next season for OSU, he's got a family to provide for, he's already four years removed from high school.

He's a fucking OSU legend, though. That run the team just had is insanity when thinking about it.

I would have to think that Cardale would beat out JT Barrett in camp if provided the opportunity, no?

He's 0-for-1 on camp battles thus far. But if I'm Jones, I'm riding the hype train to NFL money while I can.

Honestly, if I were to draw up the ideal NFL quarterback from a physical standpoint, Cardale Jones' size, arm strength and mobility would fit that model. Yes, it's insane to consider drafting a quarterback after only three starts in college (albeit three games that were as pivotal as possible), but quarterbacks with those physical traits don't come around that often. Plus, he stepped up in the pocket last night and delivered some legitimate NFL quality passes. Do you feel that playing in Cleveland would possibly hinder him considering the distractions that would accompany playing in your hometown?

I'm not too familiar with his "circle," but I'm not a huge believer the thought that being a hometown guy is a detractor.

It's not insane if you draft him with a mid-round pick with the intent to develop him. It is insane if you draft him in an early round or expect him to start immediately.

James Arthur Haslam III would beg to differ.

2015 East-West Shrine Game: Team Interviews

Browns
Oklahoma tight end Blake Bell
Toledo offensive lineman Gregory Mancz
Stanford safety Jordan Richards
Purdue defensive end Ryan Russell
Georgia cornerback Damian Swann
Newberry College linebacker Edmond Robinson
Mississippi State offensive lineman Dillon Day

Darren Waller - WR/TE - Georgia Tech

Playing in the E/W Shrine Game this week as a wide receiver. I'd be interested in him as a bulked up tight end if they believe he can block long-term.

6'6, 240 or so with some soft hands as you can see in the clip. Long strider will be a nightmare for safeties and linebackers at the next level.

Two year project, IMO.
