2016 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
There was one play in the first half when he side stepped a blitzer right in his face without even really breaking his rhythm and fired a shot down the middle.

It was amazing.

His 5 Ints vs Utah last week were amazing.

Lynch had another solid night. Mcshay now has him in the top 15 of the first round, and I have a feeling he will be a first round qb unless he has some major setbacks over the next 5 weeks. To me he has a bit of Drew Bledsoe, with a bit more mobility. He gets in the weight room and puts on 15-20 pounds, and it will help his ability to make defenders bounce off the 6'7 frame. I wish he had Goff's footwork in the pocket, but that is something that could develop with coaching and more pure drop back attempts.

Many dont know this but in high school Lynch was in a WING T offense where he rarely threw with little to no Wr's in the offense. He is literally learning from scratch in college.
I have a feeling I will be spending a lot of time talkig about Cook, Goff ad Lynch the last 6 weeks of the Podcast this season. Plan to get a scout on the podcast once we get closer to the draft.

He should give me a cut of his signing bonus.

I wish this was the year Paxton Lynch was coming out.
You all laughed at him (judging by the one funny comment) but this man was a true visionary. The voice of a generation even.

Not sure I rate Cook as highly as Goff and Lynch. Cook's issue is, has been, and always could* be that he has a slow release time. He goes through his progressions, but slowly, and the slow release makes that much worse. I think he'll be able to develop this at the NFL level, but because of that, I'm not sure he really is an NFL starter for at least two years.

To me Cook is a clear tier-two QB in the draft this year. But hell, maybe that is why I'm not an NFL scout.

So I'm not sure how, but somehow Akron has a NFL prospect

Don't think they've had anything mentionable since Hixon and Blackburn
Jatavis "Hitman" Brown is a boss. His size may hurt him some at the next level. They have a few players who could get drafted on their current D. But you're right. Nobody mentionable since Hixon and Blackburn (who was actually undrafted), unless you want to throw in Frye.

Thanks for sharing.

As far as draft stock and evaluation, I think he has done nothing but helped himself so far.

He's playing without a running game and behind a patchwork OL. He's stood in and made some really nice NFL throws.

I would agree his ceiling isn't as high as Goff's but I think he's a fairly safe QB prospect, in terms of his potential to be a good but not great starter.

I don't disagree with any of this. All I'm saying is Cook has problems that will make him very limited his first few years in the NFL. I agree, though, I think he needs speed up his release time. If he does he'll be a very good NFL QB.

Some incredible touch throws downfield by Cook. Is there any hard evidence about character concerns, or is it all just hearsay right now?

Just catching up on this thread.....

He was a total ass in high school, this according to some friends that used to coach him. I know that doesn't mean much, most of us were immature idiots in high school, but I guess he was especially hard on some of the players that he didn't feel were on his level. He was just a bully/asshole, especially later in his career and it rubbed some his teammates and coaches the wrong way.

I don't know if this stuff has anything to do with him not being named captain or not, but it wouldn't surprise me after some of the stories that I have heard.

That stuff aside, I'd imagine a NFL locker room and some veterans would straighten him out in a hurry.

Here's hoping the Browns just say no to Big Ten QBs in this upcoming draft.
