2017 Browns Mock Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think 12 is a spot we hone in on some offensive talent unless one of the two safeties are available.

Mike Williams if he's there is a no brainer I think, Dalvin Cook, Fournette, Corey Davis possibly, and then the QB's if they like one.
I like Corey Davis A LOT. I prefer him to Mike Williams if the Browns go that route.

Yeah I personally think he's a better player than Williams. So much more separation speed there.

However, the WR spot isn't really a dire need with Coleman and Pryor (though I'm still not completely sold on him becoming a top tier guy).

I'm really intrigued by the idea of Dalvin Cook at 12, I like the thought of having a feature back who can catch and is an electric playmaker with the ball in his hands. You can never have too many playmakers on offense.

Garrett, Allen, Adams, Thomas, Barnett, Hooker, Foster, Cook, and Fournette are what I consider "elite" talent. That's 9 players. Anyone else we want to throw in there? CB's are all debatable based on preference and I didn't include any of them because there will be excellent prospects there in the 2nd round. Maybe even later. Would be a bad value pick to take one there IMO. Would need 3 so called "reaches" in order for the Browns to get an elite talent there. Even so...whatever is left may not be a good fit. Ex. I love Foster, but would it make sense with Kirskey and Collins here when Williams runs a lot of 4-2-5? Just throwing out stuff to consider.

I like your list as a start, but the cornerbacks and wide receivers could easily move up as they workout for teams. It's a passing league, that is why four of the most lethal passing offenses were facing off in the Conference Championships last weekend. I am very impressed by the cornerbacks this year and I bet the media would be raving about the top corners if the class wasn't also deep.

When you're 1-15, pretty much any position will help you at 12.

I'm going to work off of two assumptions.

1. The Browns resign Collins, which likely eliminates Foster and any other MLB from the mix since Gregg Williams is in nickel 85% of the time.
2. The Browns pick Garrett 1st, which likely eliminates Barnett and any other DE/edge from the mix since they'd already have Garrett, Ogbah, Nassib, Orchard and others.

With those assumptions in mind, the way I see it, any of the following players could be in consideration at 12..

QB: Trubisky, Kizer, Watson
RB: Fournette, Cook
WR: Williams
TE: Howard
OT: Ramczyk
DT: Allen, Thomas
CB: Humphrey, Lattimore, Wilson, Tabor
S: Hooker, Adams

That's 16 guys. At least five of them will be on the board at 12. Just stay where you are and pick someone who can really help you without sacrificing a top 60 pick to move up.

Corey Davis should be on this list.

I know i am being an asshole for saying that, but your math is a bit off.

You either didnt account for Garrett being picked or you forget only 11 picks besides ours first.

My point? 6 will be there, not 5.

But i do love your post outside the name Kizer on it.

You know what's really pathetic? I double checked the math and still fucked it up. :chuckle:

Couple of guys stand out in addition to Williams, who I think is just OK but definitely has enough potential. Agree on Maye, not an elite cover guy.

Josh Jones - NC State
Budda Baker - UDub
Obi Melefonwu - UConn
David Jones - Richmond

The senior free safety from St. Francis PA, Lorenzo Jerome, took the Shrine Bowl MVP and looked like the best player all week. That will put him squarely on my radar for a second day pick.

Saw that too.

Haven't seen much of him, but I do have a friend who played w/ him the last couple of seasons. Definitely want to find out more, looks like a really good athlete.

Looking forward to hearing more about him:

Lorenzo Jerome of FCS Saint Francis (Pa.) was arguably the day's biggest winner from either game, taking MVP honors in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl with two interceptions for the National team in a 27-7 loss to the Americans.

The 5-foot-10, 205-pound Jerome currently checks in seventh among free safeties on NFLDraftScout.com's board. Safety, as a whole, is one of the strongest positions in this year's draft class -- led by potential top-10 picks Jamal Adams (LSU), Malik Hooker (Ohio State) and Jabrill Peppers (Michigan). Those three safeties are as gifted as any we've seen since at least 2010, when future All-Pros Eric Berry and Earl Thomas earned early first-round selections by the Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks.

Given his sterling career at Saint Francis, it surprised no one that Jerome earned MVP honors. It is difficult to describe Jerome's impact at Saint Francis and not reach into hyperbole. From the beginning, the Florida native wowed with his athleticism and instincts, intercepting six passes as a true freshman to earn the first of four consecutive years in which he earned all-conference honors.

His 18 career interceptions (including another six in 2016) led all FCS players and he was just as dynamic as a returner, finishing second in the country with a 28.9 yards-per-return average in 2016 after finishing first (31.2) as a junior. In his Saint Francis career, Jerome found the end zone eight times, in five different ways, with three kick return touchdowns, two interception returns, a punt return, a fumble return and a receiving touchdown.

No O lineman in the first please, unless he's the next Joe Thomas for us. Even then...

Guys I want are Hooker or Foster. Neither will likely be available at 12 so I'd like to trade up if we knew we could nab one.

From what the draft pundits and radio talk shows have been saying, it's a weak o line class.

I'm not trading up from 12 for any reason. There's plenty of strong talent in this draft that will be available there.

Someone needs to do their part then and post a picture of him smoking out of a bong.

Good thing we don't really need offensive lineman!
