2017 Browns Mock Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
You're not joking, are you?

Nope. Groans to the thought of Jonathan Allen or Myles Garrett. Clueless. They had Michael Symon on and they were all gushing about the Michael Jordan statement from Dabo. Michael Symon says, "I've never heard a coach talk about a player like that!" ----- Except for that time Dabo did it with Tajh Boyd. :chuckle:

i am confused, who do you want as the first pick? I think sarcasm isnt coming out properly.

I was saying, as a response to just take Myles Garrett, to sprint that thing up to the podium. As if to say, because Hammer doesn't want Garrett, he'll be all-pro. So, I essentially agreed.

Hammer is the same guy who said Joe Haden wasn't fast enough to play in the NFL after he got drafted and that Kyle Wilson (Jets) was better.

ETA: I agree with @BMAN :chuckle:

Oh for fucks sake

Hammer also squealed like a schoolgirl after the Browns took Manziel. He's a fucking idiot.

He tried to dig himself out of that one today. "Tony, if Johnny would have been a model citizen, do you think he would have been successful, with the Browns?"

Really? Man is he a bad talent elevator, I hate local sports reporters.

My Dad and I talk every morning. He knows my sports knowledge is pretty extensive. He always comes up with local news stories and I just hate how the conversations begin because it is always such stupidity these reporters seem to write.

Ok, end of rant.

.The local sports talk talent has learned from that best though- Browns have had 16 years of bad talent elevators.

This is my least favorite fucking defense of Manziel

I actually got into an argument with my cousin (who is not a Browns fan) the other day.

He was so high on Manziel and said I would come around on the pick immediately when he started to play.

Now he says we will never know how good Manziel the player could've been because Manziel the person couldn't behave. "he had all the talent and then some, he just couldn't stay out of trouble"

Like, no. You don't get that fucking out. I watched every snap of that douchebag's "career." He was garbage. He was garbage when we drafted him without even considering the off field stuff. You got caught up in media hype and didn't see an extremely flawed QB prospect with almost no upside.

This isn't the story of Josh Gordon. Extremely talented headcase. This is the story of a great college player who was a horrendous NFL prospect who predictably was garbage in the NFL

CBS (Only reason I am putting this here is b/c of the 12th pick. I think I remember @Lee mentioning the same thing about Peppers. Plus, Kadar isn't falling for the Watson train at #1, which is good):

1. Cleveland Browns: Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M
The closer we get to the draft, the more this is starting to feel like a formality. It would have been interesting to see if things changed had Deshaun Watson chosen to play in the Senior Bowl and be coached by the Browns. For now, let’s assume the Browns get a new quarterback via a trade or free agency.

12. Cleveland Browns (via Philadelphia Eagles): Jabrill Peppers, S, Michigan
Some Browns fans may be tiring of seeing this pick, and see Peppers as a player who is sliding. However, he’s a perfect fit in Gregg Williams’ defense which often calls for a safety to work close to the line of scrimmage.

NFL.com (January 23rd):

1. Watson - Hue Jackson will love Watson's physical attributes and his leadership skills.
12. Foster - Foster is an athletic defensive leader
33. Cleveland Browns: Budda Baker, S, Washington
52. Cleveland Browns: Adoree' Jackson, CB, USC
65. Cleveland Browns: Cooper Kupp, WR, Eastern Washington

^---Swap out Myles for Watson and that is a strong as fuck start to the draft. Although he had Lattimore & Tabor still on the board at 12

I cannot agree with Watson at one and I think almost this entire board agree with my statement (aka if we all agree on something then hopefully the Browns listen to that) now also I cannot agree on drafting a WR this season at least on day one or two as well since we have so many needs on the defensive side of the ball. As long as we retain Pryor we really do not need another WR. Now I wouldn't be opposed to a recieving TE since he would compliment who we have, but a WR is eh in my mind right now. Day 1 and 2 we need defense first then maybe an Oline, otherwise no point of anyone else, unless someone like the QBs really fall, but I doubt it.

If they would just sub out Watson for Garrett and keep Foster, Baker, Jackson... then I would take that in a minute.

Do we even want Foster anymore, out of curiosity?

I've stated this before, but Peppers shouldn't be even close to the top of the Browns draft board if they are using any sort of analytic data. His stats were middling at best. He had some flashy plays (none of which were interceptions) and had some time on offense, but overall, he didn't produce.

________Solo__Asst__Total__TFL__Sack__Int__PD__FR__FF
Player A: 46......20........66......13......3.........1......1.....0......0
Player B: 49......35........84......5.5.....(.5).....7......3.....0......0
Player C: 42......34........76......7.5......1........1......4.....1......1
Player D: 46......18........64......1.........0........5......8.....1......2

If you'd rank these players for the NFL draft, what order would you put them in?

I am not a huge Jabril fan, but raw stats like above are dangerous too. It would make a spread offense qb mean instant stud in NFL and we know different.

The dangerous thing with Jabril is he fits perfect with Williams, so you are drafting for scheme. That is dangerous as what if Williams is gone in a year or two.

But, with Williams as the dc, i dont hate the idea of drafting Jabril, I just dont love the idea either, i am rather nutural on it actually.

It's 2017 and we're still talking about Peppers at 12?

He's predictably free falling down boards for a very good reason...

Bottom line is there are more than 12 players in this draft better at football than Peppers is. Peppers doesn't even fill a hole because he doesn't play a position.
