Sir'Dominic Pointer - A Cleveland Cavalier

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Surprised they didn't go for a stash pick here. Another 23 year old. I don't think most saw him as someone who would be drafted. Hard to understand, unless they actually think he has a chance to make the team?

He did have a pretty crazy stat line his senior year: 13.9/7.8/3/1.9 steals/2.5 blocks/57% TS.
Oh that end of the bench is getting jettisoned real quick!

I bet we sign him to a non guaranteed contract with a 100k gurantee and use him to package with haywood to create a bigger piece to come back,

Don't see this guy playing for the cavs in the near future.
We can't sign him and trade him until after the Haywood contract becomes guaranteed, though...

That's right, and the amount would be small enough that it would be unlikely to make any difference in a trade.

Listened to Griffin's press conference and interview with Fred a couple of times, and I guess the Cavs just liked Pointer. Would seem very unlikely he makes the team. I still think drafting a Euro stash would have made more sense, given Griffin's honest appraisal that he was trying to build more assets. With Mike Miller predictably opting in, that's one less available roster spot.

Right now, based on speculation, we are pretty certain on this board that: LeBron, Kyrie, Kevin, Timo, Tristan, Iman, JR, Andy, Delly, Miller, and Harris are coming back next year. That is 11 right there. We are also speculating the we sign Mo Williams (or another vet PG) and trade for a player with Haywood's contract. That's 13. Does James Jones return? If he does, we have one spot for these 2 2nd round picks to fight it out over. If he doesn't and he decides to retire, I can see both of them making the squad. I don't think we will sign any new players after we use the MLE in free agency, so Pointer's NBA life may come down to if one of LeBron's aging buddies wants to give it another year or not.

Looks like our very own Sir CC has met his match. It's time to welcome aboard, Sir DP!

I like him already, his defense looks amazing and defense win championships when you have LBJ, Kyrie and Love that can create their own shot without much help.
for some reason I like all guys picked at the second round, there some undrafted playing that I would also like to see in the summer league like Frazier, Upshaw, Boatright and Holmes

He could offer some of the same abilities that Alonzo Gee did for us. I like the fact he's a team first kid and will play the game right. Perfect role player. Probably won't make the team BUT....never bet against a kid like this.
