Sir'Dominic Pointer - A Cleveland Cavalier

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
His jumper looks smooth as hell for someone that is "a Tony Allen type of player". I have no idea how he only shot 8% from 3 his senior year, but he did shoot 73% on FTs so that is a good sign. Based on how his shot has looked so far, I see no reason he can't develop a 3-ball.

Would like to see him get a bit more minutes next game, and give me some damn ball-movement, PLEASE.

My only issue is that Xmas has looked weak boxing out players for rebounds and often ends up under the net. He also gets lost on defense sometimes. (He also desperately needs a post game.) I believe with time and getting stronger he will do these things better but at the moment he is definitely a project.

Edit: which is as expected for a 2nd rounder

Yeah he is not good at boxing out right now, he looks soft down there.

He shot this 8% on 3's because he only took 0.8 attempts per game.
His shot isn't broken, also the guy is almost like a John Wall in the open court with big strides.., workhorse and a competitor what's not to like?

John wall in the open court? Let's put the brakes on here. He looked good but let's not get carried away.

Other than Carmelo, has Boehiem ever produced a finished NBA player?

Funny how last year I was all about Summer league and the years before that

Now I'm just like whatever. It's possible NO ONE on that team makes the roster so why bother?

But it's good to see people giving props to this guy. I always like players who come into the league as defenders. For some reason not a lot of guys care about defense these days and it's getting annoying getting excited for guys like Joe Harris then to come find out that they can't defend worth shit so they basically become worthless on a good team.

Ayyyyeee

It is a pretty long list of underachievers
Charlie V, Jonny Flynn, Wes Johnson, Dion, Fab Melo, Hakim Warrick
Pearl Washington, Ronnie Seikaly............

The dude is such a long shot to make the team, but if we can't find a quality backup wing for LeBron...

This kid has a high motor and can defend. We'd essentially be playing 4 on 5 on the offensive side of the ball whenever he was out on the court, but with the way our roster is shaping up and our backup backcourt being Mo Williams and (likely) J.R. Smith, I think we could hide him on the perimeter pretty well. Plus the kid can jump to the moon so I'm sure Delly and Mo will get him the occasional lob when the defense sags off too much.

I'm probably just reading too much into some halfway decent looking summer games, but hey, I'm bored.

Charlie V went to U Conn. Not sure if I would call Fab Melo and Hakim Warrick underachievers. It's not like either of them were lotto picks.

I think his defense is becoming a little overrated with the dirth of positive Cavaliers news. Rashad Vaughn lost him a few times for easy buckets, but DJ White was often late rotating to help as well.

I will riddle you this: How stoked will you be to have a 15th man in the Victory Cigar role named Sir'Dominick Pointier? Can we convince him to wear platform shoes with goldfish swimming in the soles?

Well, let's not get carried away ourselves- maybe they just look alike. The new Browns rookie WR looks like LeBron James when they stand at the same angle, for example.

... every time I hear his name I also hear this:
So he has this going for him.

Sherman Douglas. Derrick Coleman (head case, but a player). I don't think Warrick and Seikaly were underachievers either.

But the list of busts is long, in addition to the ones mentioned, John Wallace, Billy Owens...

The thing about Christmas is that he wasn't that good in college either, until his senior year when he was kind of a man among boys, and even then he was solid but not dominant. He always teases with potential.
