Cavs are finally getting active in free agency. According to a source Cleveland has discussed financial terms with Alonzo Gee. Gee, who is a RFA, and his agent are looking for a deal north of what Landry Fields signed for with Toronto. Sides don't appear close at this time.

He'll be on the team in the fall I'm sure. He's playing games right now (like anyone who wants more money would do.) He'll realize that we're the best place for him and/or no one else wanted to pay him big boy dollars.

I'm sorry but if Alonzo and his agent think they're going to get anywhere near that, then well...they can take his 3G service to a team that will pay that ridiculous contract. Gee is a 4-5 million dollar player at best.

Its an employee's job to get as much as he can pay wise from the employer. Its the employer's job to pay as little as possible for the employee while mainting happiness. I can't blaime Gee or The Cavs on either of their approaches, at the end of the day the Cavs can match any offer, so far there is nothing to match wich bodes well for the Cav's front office. I am not upset at Gee for wanting to max out his contract now, it may be the largest he will ever get.

These agents just are leaking to try to drive up the market. We got linked to all these guys last week when in reality Grant was probably on a cruise somewhere. Telich must know Gee's agent or something. Maybe he promised him a free dinner if he got an extra "bar" for his client.

So you don't think he's worth $20 million, but you'd pay him $4-5 million per year?

You do realize that depending on how that's structured, he'd be paid something equivalent to fields right?

Basic math here -- 5 x 4 = 20

I trust Grant on this one, and I honestly think Gee wants to stay with the Cavs. All of these hypothetical numbers are just part of the negotiating process. No reason to have knee jerk reactions based on rumors.

Daniel Green got 3yrs/$12 million. That seems like a reasonable comp for Gee.

im pretty sure there salary goes up every year of the contract . like 4.5, then 5.2, then 5.8 , but im not 100% sure

who would we get instead of alonzo, he young improving and not very expensive compared to other good small forwards

Gee will end up signing with us most likely and it will be one of those drawn out deals where he doesn't sign until August or so because of the difference in money being offered, IMO.

I like what he brings to the team and i could see a deal similiar to Landry Fields. Hell, i actually think Gee is better than fields on various levels.
