Jim O'Neil is Frisco's Problem at DC

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Browns hire Jim O'Neil as DC.. OC still TBA

Does anyone else really like this hire? Best blend of youth, experience and know-how left on the board, IMO. Always loved watching his dad's offenses...

I like the thought of having a continued focus on the defense while also implementing an offense that is heavy on the run, while looking to stretch the field with the pass.

Re: Browns hire Jim O'Neil as DC.. OC still TBA

Nobody cares about the Skins organization's pure hatred of him?

I am... I'm very worried... It's why I was turned off by Shanahan and didn't necessarily want him to become the OC here..

I don't think anybody can question his effectiveness as an OC or whether or not he is a good OC... Even though he doesn't have an extensive track record and his work has been under some bigger names (with possibly bigger influence) he still has the credibility of being a good offensive mind... There's no denying that..

My worry is how he got along with players, what happened off the field and how he's going to handle being in charge of the offense... You can be the best mind in the game but if you can't get the players to buy in, then it's not going to work..

My only hope is that the Browns could have an environment for him to succeed and keep him in check... Being in Washington the problem there seemed to be under his dad's shadow and having a staff full of his friends, or 'yes' men, around him... So coming to Cleveland without his dad, or Kubiak, and being under a guy like Pettine, I'm hoping can really change things..

I feel like it's a lot to ask for but we'll see..

I will say one thing: I do think the Browns have a very nice offensive staff put together, as far as talent and experience... It's a question if they can work well with the players, in regards to Shanahan...

12. The Browns discussed Loggains with several offensive coordinator candidates, making sure they would be able to work together.

This simply can't be true. We all know the Browns don't know what they're doing & blindly started hiring position coaches at random...

I've been screaming about them controlling their PR. When they 'leak' stories like this to the press it gives them credibility and the benefit of the doubt. That's my biggest problem. Don't allow the media to bash you if you don't deserve it.

Add former longtime Ravens RB coach Wilbert Montgomery to the Browns staff as the RB coach..

Fluery will likely coach the OLBs, or at least that's my guess...

The only position the Browns need to fill is the WR coaches spot and then any other coaching assistants they wish to bring on..

Not sure why you would hate Tabor... FO had the Browns special teams units ranked as 10, 2, 14, which is good considering the amount of turnover and instability the special teams unit has seen over the past few years... I think it also says something about a coach when he can stay on with a new coach, now 2 different times...

I actually feel pretty good about the staff Pettine put together with everything considered... I think he's put together staff that can be successful but a lot of hit hinges on Shanahan's success, which does worry me a considerable amount...

If Peyton were to retire....is it safe to assume Adam Gase won't be getting any head coaching jobs soon?

I know I shouldn't but I was curious to see what the raving idiots on 92.3 had to say this AM. I was not disappointed. They firmly believe the Browns thru back channels should contact Quinn NOW and ask him to be the head coach even though they have Pettine and the rest of the staff hired. Kiley admits that it would be disastrous and something the front office would never live down but in his words he "would absolutely do it, no question".

That is absurd Cleveland Sports Talk radio at its finest.

Instead of doing that....just let the head coach you just hired build the same team Quinn would. Pettine built a great defense with half the talent on the D side and 0 talent on the O side.

I think it is worth noting RG3 was forced back on the field earlier than he should have due to outside forces. He had just signed the biggest endorsement deal in Addidas history. With a healthy Cousins, Washington didn't look all that bad.

I was more excited about Chud

And people wonder why some talk shit about Cleveland sports talk radio..

Guarantee if the Browns did that, not only would it be disastrous, they'd be the first ones to say how disastrous it is & how f'd up the organization is...

Why is it taking so long to get Shanahans contract signed and announcement made?

Apparently he was on vacation last week with his family. He is in Cleveland today to sign the deal according to MKC.
