Dan Gilbert Statement

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Loved the letter ... about time we have an owner in this town that cares so much about winning and not cutting costs and soccer teams. eom.

Forget about the fact Dan Gilbert is an owner, and yes, he could have toned the letter down a bit. SO the Fuck what? How can you be a true Cavs fan who knows damn well that letter was the absolute truth, and are now trying to criticize Gilbert when it's very clear this is Dan Gilbert the fan speaking for ALL FANS??

This moron and idiot and guy who thinks the world revolves around him actually CALLED ESPN to set up this spectacle for the sole purpose of making sure millions of people watched HIMSELF DUMP his home town, northeast ohio, the State of Ohio, and every Cavalier fan from coast to coast.

He claims he gave his ALL for seven years and did a lot for his home town. BULLSHIT. He's the biggest hypocrite and loser I have ever known about in Professional Sports. History will judge him for what he is.... a LOSER who wanted a title handed to him as he was not Man enough to actually work and earn one.

I thought you were done with the Cavs board if LeBron left? ;)

That said, I agree. LeBron fucked up here, and history will tell the story after it's all said and done. I've been saying for a long time the biggest blessing the Cavs had has been Gilbert, not LeBron. Now we'll see if Gilbert's goal to go all-out to win a championship is legit or if it was just posturing to keep LeBron happy.

I'm hoping for the former.

No. This is not about LeBron (Not directly, its about how Gilbert is handling this) and you CANNOT forget the fact that Dan Gilbert is the owner. A sports writer could have wrote this letter and I would be 100% behind it.

The fact that the owner of this franchise and the fact that most players in the NBA will look at this as a total dick move is exactly why he shouldn't have wrote it.

Its not that I dont agree with the content of his letter, its who wrote it.

Sports writers ARE writing about the same things:

To the above poster, I did write a post about my stating if I was wrong, I would quit posting in Cavs talk. I'm a Cavs fan first and foremost and always have been a Cavs fan. James was a player on the team I love. He screwed the team, the fans, ALL of Ohio.

Dan Gilbert is my hero forever. That said:

There is a bunch we do not know. Just one small example; Dan says he was betrayed. That tells me LeBron probably gave him BIG clues he was staying. It tells me LeBron probably relayed information to the Cavs that he loved Byron Scott as a coach and we should go get him. The Gilbert letter tells me a lot. More stuff we will find out. Other stuff we will never find out.

One thing I know for sure now thinking back on ALL things that have happened. Bosh, Wade, and James had this planned for a very long time. I now believe they all knew this way before Wade and Bosh trekked to Chicago with the silly meetings with the Bulls. The entire FA period was nothing but a huge circus put on by LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh.

The nail in the coffin is the fact James KNEW what his decision was going to be BEFORE they decided to contact ESPN.

Any bets on Shaq coming out with a few choice comments now?

Doug
I agree with everything except maybe the Shaq statement. We will find out shortly I guess where Shaq is in all this if he signs in Miami

National media are attributing some of the blame to Gilbert for not giving him a second fiddle, without acknowledging that LeBron never committed to the Cavs for more than 3 years, after his rookie contract. He just committed to the Heat for 5. Durant committed to the Thunder for 5.

You can fault Gilbert for entrusting his franchise to a rookie head coach and rookie GM, but LeBron was just as much at fault for the failure to land a second star. And who knows? Maybe the team would have been good enough, if LeBron had given 100%.

Gilbert's a businessman and he knows a reaction like this will cause more than one ripple effect. He will be called petty. He will be branded bitter. He will be labeled a scorned lover who should demonstrate more class.

But all of that is worth these two things: rallying the Cavs fanbase and ensuring that the LeBron James brand is forever tarnished.

LeBron is to A-Rod as Wade is to Jeter.

You all need to turn to 850am espncleveland. Rizzo is getting off big time.

"There is going to be a whole lot of stuff coming out in the next couple of days."

The only people that can truly appreciate this letter and Dan Gilbert for being the amazing wonderful man he is, are Cleveland fans.

Don't leave. The quality posters here are getting drowned in the recent influx of, well, subpar posters.

There isn't a huge number of posters here whose posts I actually stop to make sure I read every time, and you're one of them. You always put a lot of thought into each posts, you punctuate properly, and you care about quality. I like your posts a lot. Except the ones about politics. :p

But seriously, don't leave. We're gonna need everyone we can get to hold down the fort during the rebuilding process.

Would anyone mind giving a sum-up of Rizzo from this morning? I'm at work. Thanks!

Go Cavs, and damn, my life hurts!!
