The thing about Gilbert's letter is that it will be easy for him to control the spin if he wants to. He can do a follow-up interview and say he was angry, said some things he wished he hadn't said, but he was pissed, betrayed, etc. It allows him to keep the fire while toning down any worries that players or agents have about coming here.

The same can't be said for LeBron, who fucked up so badly that there's no way to spin his way out of it now.

hey guys, longtime lurker and diehard cavs fan here. the betrayal hurts a lot for me because i was about 12 years old and beginning to fully appreciate sports when he was drafted, so in a sense i grew up with him.

Letter seems to be backfiring on Gilbert. I'm sure it was hard to keep in, but he gave up the high ground, and his letter looked like it was written by a 5th grader. The press is regarding him as unserious.
